Highly functional ID badge and Smart Card reader
I bought this in conjunction with a SGT119X (see my other review). We are required to display our ID/smart cards at our workplace and this product serves me double function as an ID display and smart card reader. Its plug and play on my Windows 7, Windows 8 and Server 2008 computers. A little heavy when wearing about my neck and I've since replaced the lanyard with a wider strap type. As with the SGT119, works great on my personal Macbook Air with Yosemite. I used the Pkard software with it. I highly recommend this and the SGT119X.

Great product and service.
I purchased this in Jan 2016 to replace one with the retractable cord. The CAC works with all the programs I interact with as a federal employee. The USB wire on the back where it enters the case frayed and and finally one of the wires broke in October. I inquired about the product warranty and mentioned the broken wire and SuperDeals replied to my inquiry and sent me a new one within an hour or so of my email. Great service!

Reader works perfectly, lanyard- not so much!
I have a position that requires me to use a Common Access Card to log onto my employers network and another with the GA Air National Guard. Needless to say whichever reader I choose to use will get a workout. I decided on this particular reader for two reasons. First, my civilian job requires me to display my identification card while on campus. This fills that square nicely. Secondly the primary reader in my corporate laptop did not work when it arrived so I needed an alternative and again, this works perfectly. Why the three stars you ask? Good question. Take a look at the included photo. Notice the location where the lanyard strap wraps around the bar on the female end of the clip. The lanyard is separating right at the point where the material was either glued or melted together. You also may be wondering why that would warrant a three star review when the reader itself works like a champ. I will tell you why! The product is supposed to be both a lanyard for my sensitive identification card and a reader as well. If I were to lose the lanyard, aka my identification because the material fell apart, the reader would be lost as well, thus rendering the lanyard that remained around my neck worthless, unless I wanted to choke myself with it for losing the primary end device along with my identification.I don't know about you but I rely heavily on reviews from others on Amazon or any other site when I invest into a product. Having realistic feedback that benefits everyone helps weed out the manufacturers that do not make quality products for the quality minded consumer. If you find this review helpful please rate accordingly, if not, please rate accordingly as well. If you have additional questions I will gladly answer those as well.

Completely stopped working after 2 months - updated
They were very understanding and gave me a brand new SGT117 free of charge. I am a fan of their customer support.Original:I really liked it for a while. It was nice to have a CAC reader with me, but the way the USB is built into the reader is a rather poor design. the wire is pretty weak and this morning my machine couldn't read my card anymore. Rather disappointing.

Poor design...
It actually works. But it is too expensive. The usb cable connection poorly designed and will not last long. Good luck trying to get the lanyard in the 2 small holes. Poor and cheap design.
