A good POE switch
I have tried a few different brands of POE switches over the years to find that perfect switch for my needs and have settled on these little guys. I have worked with manufacturers who claimed POE+ or 1G speeds but did not deliver. Netgear POE switches just work. Nothing too fancy about them but they deliver what they promise and if you work with POE switches, that is always a good thing. I do have to say that you're getting what you pay for with these switches so they're my standard when testing other brands now.

It's functional
Have a 24 port switch but need POE for future expansion. Connect to my cable modem and wifi router via patch panel and the 24 port switch connects to it. Only four stars as I have yet to put it through its paces. I goes with this system right?

Good switch
This is a decent unmanaged switch. My only gripe is that it MUST be paired with a managed switch with VLANs in order to be practical. Otherwise, any PoE devices like IP cameras will have access to the Internet and all other devices on your network.

Simple install into a home rack.... POE!
This unmanaged switch links together all home network "things". POE for those cameras and IOT things that need it. Has been running like a champ now for well over two years and requires no adjustment.

A review for the professional network engineer
This is a review for the NETGEAR 8-Port PoE Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (GS108PEv3). I paid $99.99 in August 2022.I'm a systems engineer for a large network vendor that competes with the one on Tasman Drive, thus I have high expectations from a switch that claims it's managed, and supports vlans. I bought it because my company's employee purchase program is suspended due to supply-chain issues. That said, I do not regret this purchase. The switch supports 48v PoE on 4 ports, VLANs on all 8 (1-4094), trunk and access ports, .1p, IGMP snooping, and even rate limiting. Pretty impressive for a $100 switch.Configuration is fairly easy, but there is one small caveat. My home network runs on vlan 4000, and my router is on a tagged port. The switch's management interface will not work on a tagged vlan, thus I had to set vlan 4000 as the native vlan on the port to my router, otherwise it became unmanageable. It was an easy fix, but I'm writing this anyway as this may save someone a bit of time.Overall throughput is good, it can easily handle ~300Mbit/s.All in all, a good buy if you know what you're buying.

Great switch - Netgear is awesome
This is the only brand we'll buy for PoE switches. Works great!

Perfect
10/9/2022 - Replaced a no PoE with this item. The house is wired for AC and this unit eliminates the outdoor wall warts. I use this item with security cameras. This item has been installed over 2 years now. This item is also working in concert with a 24 port PoE installed in 2014. The PoE is great for those who want less lag in the video as apposed to wi-fi cams. It's all good. Chose your battles.

Not POE+ as advertised, only POE (802.3af)
The main description of this switch shows it as PoE+, but when I received the switch it provides only 15.4 watts per port.802.3at (PoE+) should be able to handle up to 30 watts per port so this switch is NOT 802.3at compatible; it is only built for the 802.3af (PoE) standard.Otherwise it is a good switch that provides lots of functionality over an unmanaged switch. I dropped two stars due to the title being deceptive.

Not Enough Power for POE
I have 4 IP Cameras that I was using a 8-port switch with and wanted to upgrade to get more ports. After installing this switch, one of my cameras stopped working. I diagnosed for hours, tinkering with the cables and thought maybe the IP Camera was fried... Turns out this switch just doesn't give out enough power. As soon as I re-installed my old switch, it worked no problem. It's frustrating that this switch was rated for 183W but can't even power up 4 IP Cameras that are rated at 30W each. Very disappointing. I saw other reviews that mentioned it not giving out enough power for POE, but I thought for sure with just 4 IP Cameras I'd be fine. Nope!

Basic Switch
This is a decent switch that offers 8 ports. The footprint is very small and very discrete, which is great for the port density. The switch support 802.1Q and has PoE (15.4W) on 4 of the 8 ports. Now, for all the not so good stuff... The management console is horrible and not intuitive. You can try using the web-management console or the App, but it's also just not that great. Creating VLANs and managing them is just bad. While this is a managed switch, you cannot actually change the management IP or the VLAN that it resides on, so you will need to use VLAN 1 to manage the switch and set the gateway and the IP address as per default. I don't know what happens if you get two of these switches on the same LAN with the same IP addresses.I wouldn't recommend this switch at all. Go find a better one that is actually manageable.

Doesn't come with Cage Nuts, but OVERALL GREAT POE+SWITCH!
I had to give this 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the box didn't come with cage nuts for the mounting of the switch to a rack installation. The box came with everything else under the sun, just no cage nuts required to install it in the rack.Luckily, I had lots of cage nuts and that's what propelled me to success installing the switch in my network rack.GREAT BUDGET SWITCH! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Nice job NETGEAR BUSINESS!

This is NOT an unmanaged switch but a SMART managed switch - suggest GS308P instead for SOHO
This is the right product of what I was interested in with PoE but alas, the web description is incorrect - hopefully it will be corrected. I need an unmanaged 8-Port and Netgear has the best. This product is a SMART MANAGED and thus I am not smart enough to use it. The GS108 is the most reliable and likely for the money - the best in class - with time to failure 3-4 x longer than PoE or SOHO class similar types. If looking for an affordable one with PoE, then I found GS308P (currently $69 marked down) - but the quality is similar to other lower end SOHO models. I returned this product and have purchased the GS108 ($59) instead.
