We installed a built-in electric fireplace and mounted this mantel above it. The mantel arrived in great condition, but the styrofoam around it was crushed into snow. But there was no damage to the mantel and it delivered in just days, weeks sooner than others we had ordered elsewhere! The construction seems to be 2x6 boards and is hollow on the inside, but the seams and joints are very tight and sturdy, so it looks like a solid beam except much lighter and easier to install!My one comment is that the wood strip included for mounting to the wall can only hit 3 studs if centered on one, and our installation was centered between two studs. I used a 48” 2x4 to mount across 4 studs using lag bolts rather than the included screws for extra stability, and used the three black screws to attach the mantel to the mounting strip rather than nails as suggested.The final result is perfectly level, rock solid, and looks fantastic. Definitely the perfect mantel for our fireplace upgrade!

I have been wanting a mantel for some time and finally decided to go for it. We went to look at solid wood ones and they were so heavy! That was never going to work.When I saw this I said let’s go for it. It was a perfect addition to this space!-The instructions for it aren’t great or clear. They imply the pieces included should be angled for support but they weren’t. But we figured it out.Drill and attach the small piece of wood included, into brick and the drill holes from the top of the mantel to attach to that piece of wood. You tube had some good demonstrations of it.-As for quality. It is very rough to be sure. Could use a good sanding, but I didn’t want to have to stain. It makes it hard to dust but all in all you can’t tell from just looking at it.It really looks beautiful and the color is perfect.I would buy again for sure.

The product I received looked nothing like the pictures. It is a dull gray with the ugliest huge orange knot in the front. Why is it orange? I’m not installing this awful thing in my house. I would like a replacement, but I’m afraid.After exchanging for another, I am updating my review. Though the second one I received still has an orange knot, it is far smaller and less noticeable. It looks very nice installed.

I purchased the 72" mantel in Driftwood stain for a stone fireplace we did. I found the product to be very good quality and was extremely happy with the purchase as was my customer. As far as the mounting system goes I found the piece of wood base applied to be not substantial enough. I purchased a 2x4 and cut it at 60" and mounted it to the wall then attached the mantle with finish nails through pre-drilled holes in the top which was covered with stone. I felt it was much sturdier after adding the 2x4 and locking it in place with the stone. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend it.

The media could not be loaded.  We are in love with that mantel. Its beautiful! Easy installation, wish it had the metal installation package, just 2 wood pieces, but seems to be steady and hold well, so it made installation easy. Ita gorgeous.

used over electric fireplace mantle. nice color and look. a little expensive compared to other similar but the distinct look was worth it for a center piece

I was waiting for this mantle when it arrived we needed to install it for the fireplace to be completed, the tile guy was waiting on this mantle and needed to move forward, we had no choice but to install it although it was coming unglued on the corners and needed to be sealed and painted. It's sad an inferior mantle was packaged up and sent to us. It just takes a moment to look at something and say oh wait we can't send this out! This was the most expensive of all the mantles. If someone can send me an email I will forward photos, were at a loss and really don't know what we can do since it can't be removed due to all the beautiful tile work. The mantel itself looks nice, although the staining was inconsistent. However the supplied wooden mounting baton was way too short and unsubstantial to hold up the 60 inch mantel. It was only long enough to reach across two drywall studs. They got the expensive stuff right, but skimped on the cheap part.Luckily my carpenter was able to reinforce it.
