A keeper after much tweaking/tuning of colours
On paper this projector (X100-4K) looked like a fantastic deal for the price, and due to so many reviews being for other projectors I wanted to give it a try. (Also why I added the model) It’s not as quiet as expected based on advertising, but then it’s not terrible. There is a low audible hum that is rarely intrusive when watching movies. The projector is more than bright enough for a room with some light ambiance, curtains drawn better still but once it’s dark it starts to really deliver quite well. Out of the box the colours disappoint as were unrealistic and over saturated, so much so I was in two minds to return this unit. However, after several hours of tweaking this became very acceptable. I feel almost 100% there, but can’t quite get the magenta/cyan truly dialled in although it’s really barely noticeable 99% of the time. (I’ll keep tweaking) The blacks and contrasts are limited and to my eyes don’t seem to deliver on documented specification. That said at this current price it does give projectors at 2x or even 3x the price point a run for the money, plus there’s an added bonus of never needing to replace the LED bulb. The good:Quieter than most at this priceBright enough for most rooms even with some daylightCrisp crystal clear imageGood enough colour after extensive tweakingConnectionsGreat sound, surprisingly good bass mid tone and treblesPrice point for specThe bad:The contrast / blacks and dark scenes do suffer someSize (may be an issue for some)Hope this helps others.

Almost perfect
I really wanted this to be a perfect solution of a quiet projector and as far as fan noise goes it is really quiet, however it also has a high pitch whine which is way worse than the fan noise of my old Optoma HD143x.It is quite bright but out of the box and needs lots of tweaking of the settings to get a good looking picture. There is a lag from changing the settings to them appearing on screen which is really annoying as you dont think anything has changed. Be aware the unit itself is huge! Unfortunately I had to return it, couldn't live with high pitch whine. Since found out from other reviews this is a common issue with the x100-4k, if Viewsonic could fix that I could have lived with the other quirks.

A smart projector but not quite smart enough
A great projector with lots of features. Picture and sound quality all great. The smart side of it really lets it down. The app selection is poor for a brand new projector. The apps that are available are outdated. The bbc iPlayer app for example is so outdated it won’t work without an update which currently isn’t being offered by the built in app store. The navigation of the apps is clumsy with some apps requiring a mouse to use them, or the remote control smartphone app.If you were hoping for a smart tv kind of operation this is far from it.

As the promotional video hints, it is meant for a country manor and a typical urban dwelling!
On the plus side, The fans are just as silent as advertised, not to mention the crisp and saturated projected image! However, a 4K-Display means that even an 80" projection screen can be enveloped by the gigantic 3840 × 2160 projection! Resizing the image to 1920 x 1080 still leaves the white 3840 × 2160, intact! To go from bad to worse, once it finally tuned itself to a 1920x1080 display, sliding the zoom-lever to enlarge the picture rendered the entire screen, unrecognisable! Sliding the lever to its original position didn't remedy the situation! All that aside, when the promotional video pictures a large hall in a country manor, befitting this projector, it means exactly that!

How it was presented didn't reflect it's price
Packaging was dreadful and it wasn't sealed probably. You'd expect it to be packed well considering it costs so much. it was already used, It had already 40 hours on the lamp. Could have been more if it had been reset. It's led, once the lamp goes it's not usable anymore
