I bought this radio because my old one succumbed to lead acid batteries withering, then dead. So I set out to find a replacement with long-lasting lithium Ion batteries. That narrowed down choices by quite a bit.Next I found that the best-selling (cheaper) radio did not allow the emergency broadcast function to be deactivated. This is a great idea if you are camping in an Arizona mountain ravine—but the emergency test every Wednesday morning becomes very annoying in a home situation.This is a great radio. Small and light. Simple turnoff button. Battery life great. Crank charging awesome. Tuning sharp. My only negative comment is that it has way too many bells and whistles which most of us over 60 will never be be able to master.

I purchased this and radio thinking that it would be a quality after using it. It appears the battery will only last for between 4–5 hours when the radio is used on low volume. I contacted kaito customer services and the response I got back was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I explained the problem with the radio and that the battery is 18650 battery should last longer than this is the response I got back was that this is normal and that” if I want a longer run time, I should consider buying myself a bigger battery” this is not except for a new product. I purchased this after reading there products back where it clearly states “ after charging the radio will last for days “ and after replying to the email, they have not even have the courtesy to reply. My advice is to avoid this company and their product at all costs a total rip-off, and misleading information on their webpage.

SD card easily replaceable.There are different equalizer functions for different music. It does make a difference.Built in file reader for .txt files is ok. Apple files not tested. MP3 player works very well.Backlit green screen is easy to read for those 40+ No fine print.Buttons are easy to use for adults with tactile feed back.Larger than normal solar panel - 1/2 height, 3/4 length.Has date, time (24 hr military) and one Alarm. Will record off radio or built in microphone.Radio will charge other 18650 batteries - not recommended by manufacture. Easy to do.Charge indicator (red) and full charge (green) with battery charge indicator.Will scan and save radio stations in memory for quick accessBought the extended antenna just to be sure.Can charge from USB port or laptop. Can transfer files from computer to radio.Draw backs. Mono with fake stereo. Still sounds good in the office.Wish it had a bigger screen and place to carry the USB charging cable.Could use better manual and manual reference built into the radio, readable on the screen.

Super light weight, durable, solar charges works great. Could use a few more controls, as switching between modes and function with the available buttons is a bit clunky and the user interface freezes once in awhile. The hand crank charger works, but plan on cranking for a LONG time. Sound quality is just fine for a small radio, and battery life is decent.

The NOAA weather and AM/FM reception isstrong and speaker sound is exceptional for its' size and weight. the four (4) way power source allows for multiple power backup functions.I bought one for my new neighbor as a house warming gift...and it makes a great gift for any occasion. This radio is highly recommended, anda great value for the price. The integrated LED reading lamp is bright and long lasting...the built in micro voice recorder is fun and easy to use and can be set up for scheduled entries. The clock feature allows for alarm settings ...and Bluetooth connection is intuitive to use andsound quality outstanding. The KA700 by Kaito offers a lot of useful functions at a reasonable price.
