I’ve been using the 10mm one for a project and the hook doesn’t snag my yarn and works well. I’m using a fuzzy yarn that doesn’t really have strands like maybe acrylic (4) yarn, but I really like the hooks they seem durable. Comfortable to hold. The stitch markers, needles, and measuring tape are good quality also.

This will be the perfect starter kit for my young granddaughter who wants to learn to crochet. I read that it's best to start with a large hook and bulky yarn so it's easier for a beginner to see the stitches and where to put the hook to draw up a loop. Plastic hooks were recommended as they are easier for small hands to hold. This set was just what I was looking for, with the added bonus of stitch markers, yarn needles, and a cloth tape measure. (I am trading the steel needles for some plastic ones due to her age). Very reasonably priced even without the bonus items.

These hooks are ok if you want some sizes that you rarely use. I wouldn't recommend them for big projects or continued use. The straight plastic handles can be slippery making you drop stitches. They can also create pain in the wrists or hands. I do love the added bonuses though! I've always used plastic needles but this set came with metal ones that I'm eager to try. I'm also pleased with the generous amount of stitch markers because I'm always losing mine. So in all I would just order this for an inexpensive "filler" set.

Back in early April, I fell (or flew) down the staircase in my home and shattered my left ankle with a high impact triple compound fracture. I was lucky that there happened to be a specialist in that sort of injury in a nearby hospital because otherwise, I could have had to suffer an amputation. I am still in a boot with a cane or walker going through physical therapy, but at least he didn't have to amputate. I've been crochet and knitting presents for my husband's family feverishly in my extended down time. This kit has helped me with new stitches and ideas to use and has literally saved me throughout this unpleasant obstacle in my life!

These hooks are fine and get the job done, but the yarn catches at the location where the two pieces come together. If you’re making a loose project, it’s just annoying and doesn’t cause any actual problems. But you wouldn’t want to use them for a project that required attention to detail. Essentially, they’re neither here nor there for me. I’ll keep them, but they’re absolutely not go-to hooks for me.

They work well but are not large grip. Other than that I do like that.
