What’s the housing requirement for small animalsThe cage needs to have a spot for your pet to sleep, a place for his food, water and treat dishes, and some space to play and run around. If your pet is out of its cage during the day to play and exercise, the cage can be smaller to accommodate just a sleeping place, food and water. Why we need a sleeping hutA nestbox or sleeping hut is often appreciated although not always absolutely necessary. Many small animals are nocturnal. That means they like to sleep during the day and run around at night. A hut can help your pet feel more comfortable during the sunlight hours while it is sleeping. What kind of decors should I getScampering around is a favorite activity for most small animals, especially hamsters and mice. An exercise wheel or a variation of the wheel, a spinning disc, is a great choice for smaller pets. Another variation of the exercise wheel is an exercise ball. Your pet can climb into the ball and roll around the floor or on specially made tracks. Your pet can overexert itself; so don't keep it in the ball for more than 15 or 20 minutes at a time. Some small animals, such as ferrets, sugar gliders and rats like to climb on limbs. Climbing branches, bird perches and bird swings work well. They may get chewed up, but that's part of your pet's play, too! Others caring tipsCheck it's cage for chewed or damaged areas. Remove any old foods and check the toys to be sure they are still working and in good condition. Keeping your pet safe and well cared for can give both you and your pet a long and happy experience!

Fat Rat Approved!
Very well made! We got this corner ledge because Asklepios, our fat male ratto kept falling off his narrower ledges when he'd fall asleep on them lol! So far so good with this one! He likes smooshing himself in the top corner of the cage on this platform and its sufficiently large enough that he can curl into his ball-formation and not fall off. We think he appreciates that fact. It seems well-made and is definitely an appropriate size for fancy rats, so I would buy this again if I needed to for whatever reason.

Great product! Wish it would’ve had instructions
I think the corner ledge is great! It fits my cage perfectly and my chinchilla loves it! It’s very sturdy and thick! Only issue I had is there were no instructions for putting the ledge on the cage so it took me a little bit to figure it out, and from there it was slightly difficult, but overall a great product and I would highly recommend!

Useful item in rat cages
This represents a very affordable and useful addition to a pet rodent's cage. I own pet rats and the shelves can easily accommodate two adult-sized rats. I found them useful for filling in those top corners in your cage, above or below the hammocks. The reason for the four stars is that, like any wood product, the shelves absorb urine and will take time to clean. I let mine air dry for 5-7 hours before they're ready to be put back inside. Other than that, no reservations at all in recommending them for use in the said environment. .

Alfie brand or Carno?
I just purchased a few Alfie shelves for my chinchilla cage. I haven’t installed them just yet but what I’m concerned about is that one of the ones I received has the actual “Alfie” logo brand but I got two of this one and both has a “Carno” company brand… just seems like they came from a different company if you ask me.

My chinchillas love this!
My chinnies love to always be on this ledge and they love to chew it. It's my chinchilla's favorite hangout spot. I even bought two of them because they love it so much.

Quality shelf that is okay for chinchillas
I used this for my chinchilla to give her an extra shelf and she loves it! I often see her perched on it and it is a new favorite location (conveniently located close to the cage door). I would definitely buy this again

Chinchilla-Approved Ledge
I've had this ledge for almost 8 months now, and it has held up very well. I have a chinchilla, and this is his favorite ledge to perch and sleep (and poop) on. Overall, I'm very happy with this wooden ledge, and highly recommend it if you're looking for a good perch for your chinchilla.
