Android Studio 3.6 Development Essentials - Java Edition: Developing Android 9 (Q) Apps Using Android Studio 3.5, Java and Android Jetpack

Very useful (if you like short, precise and clear explanations)
I am studying this book after having taken an introductory Android class. For me, it's very useful for learing new and advanced Android techniques, better understanding the techniques I already knew, and picking up additional basics in the use of Android Studio (the book starts from zero). The explanations are very clear and to the point, giving a very good sense of the important points and ingredients. They are always accompanied by the right amount of example code. Similarly with the way everything is structured and built up in sensible steps. To benefit from this book, you have to like short, precise and clear explanations. Some may prefer more text, additional examples, and a slower pace. There are no exercises, which some may prefer to have. But one can always code along in Android Studio 3.6 or 4 (the differences are not relevant for this book) and one can also download the code of the example projects that are developed. A full command of the more advanced techniques requires looking up additional details in the Android developer documentation and practicing on one's own, but the clarity with which this books introduces the reader to these issues (and an understanding of one implementation of them) is remarkable.

700 pages of non essential blah
I was hoping for a book that provided the essential information, but instead it's a superficial 80 chapter skim (with lots of screenshots) across everything, without anything helpful about the difficult / confusing topics.
