Q: do i need chevy plug wires with this distibutor?

I bought Chevy 454 wires for my 460 with straight boots

Q: Does the gear come attached to shaft? Purchased from another dealer and the shamft was ‘2 piece’ at the gear. (Not what their picture showed)

Yes the gear was attached to the shaft on this unit. However after approximately 500 miles the roll pin securing the shaft sheared and left me stranded in the desert in Arizona. Because I used it in a motorhome and don't drive it every day my return time was up I couldn't return it.

Q: The gear on the shaft is too big in diameter. Can I get another gear?

If it's too big then you either have the wrong distributor or it was shipped with the wrong gear. Return it rather than repair something you just bought
