Way cheaper than local parts store so hopefully durable enough. Not an easy job because its hard to get old motor out but its not complicated just tricky. One thing to note is that the solenoid bolt is not the same size as the oem bolt so I suggest you make sure you have the right sockets/wrench size with you before you crawl under the truck to fit this one... it comes with a locking bolt on the posts which is better than my OEM so less risk of stripping post if over tightened and it comes with new bolts which is just as well as the old ones were corroded to death

Was kinda skeptical about ordering a sub $100 starter but ordered it anyway due to finances. Put this on an 02 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 and it started right back up as soon as it was installed. (Had to take out my dipstick to fit it in. But no complaints)Been in sub freezing temperatures and has been in for a week and it's still no problems at all. Option for 3 year warranty as well.

fit my 99 silverado with 4.8 motor perfectly. Removing the passenger side tire and loosening up the oil dip stick bracket will definitely increase wiggle room for hands, starter and wrenches. Fits good, just takes a little patience to get it in

Old starter was a major pain to remove, you may as well just plan to remove right tire and mud guard that sits behind tire, there just isn't enough space to get to all the bolts without removing them. Other than it being a pain to change , the new starter works great.

Clearly I got this starter because it was inexpensive. It was $80 less than the local parts stores. With that being said, I installed the starter on 11/18/18 and the truck started right up. As I went to start the truck to go to work, it didn't start and all I heard was a spinning noise. I tried to start it again, and it started up. At first I thought it was just a freak thing and didn't think about it again. That is until it was time to go home. At this point, I had to turn the key almost 10 times before it started. I got it home, and that was it. No matter how many times I turned the key, I just heard the spinning sound. This was the day before we were to leave on our Thanksgiving trip. Luckily I still had the old starter, so I went to Advance Auto and bought one there and used the old one as a core. Upon installation, it started immediately and my family and I were able to take our Thanksgiving road trip. Needless to say, the unit from the local parts store performed flawlessly and if this junk unit was still in there, we would have ended up stranded. Don't buy this unit it is cheap, but it is not worth having to do the job twice.

Great Quality product. Install was pretty easy. If you replace this part and all you get is a clicking sound. Charge up the battery. When I mean charge up the battery I mean hook up the cables and let it sit and charge for atleast a half hour. Dont try and start it every couple of minutes. It'll just drain it. Let it sit and charge. I couldn't get mine started and I thought I had installed it incorrectly. Brother inlaw came over after almost a week just sitting in the driveway. Charged the battery and started it right up. Now my Tahoe is up and running and starts right up.

Starter lasted 17 months before going bad on my 2001 Chevy Tahoe. The worse part is that I have not put 3k on this vehicle since I replaced the starter motor. I would have rated it a 1 star, however I also bought s starter for my daughters Saturn for DB Electrical three years ago and its still running strong.Update: Updated to 5 stars. After towing my Tahoe into the shop, turns out the OEM heat shield on the starter vibrated and slid across the starter motor allowing the starter to short out on the hot lead. After removing the heat shield and replacing the main fuse, the starter motor is back in business.

So far so good! Good quality unit, comes tested with warranty. Good price especially with no core charge, bought for less than the local auto shop, and sold the old core to a local shop to get $20 back.
