Best budget chess board?
I’m giving this 5 stars even though I had to return the first board due to craftsmanship issues. The black line surrounding the squares was unevenly joined, plus there were blotches of gloss finish on all four corners (from what I guess was another board resting on top of it in the warehouse). So be warned that the quality control on this board might not be consistent.That being said, the one I have NOW is perfect. It feels well-built and solid. The grains of walnut and maple wood are beautiful on the veneer. The board has 4 pads on bottom corners to prevent scratches or shifting during play. The squares are exactly 1 and 13/16 (1.8125) inches and they fit my large chessmen perfectly. I use German Knight Staunton Chessmen with 3.75” kings. Highly recommend this combination. It looks almost identical to the setup used by world championship tournaments.I also need to mention how this board comes very well-packed. The box is so protective that I will be saving it in the event I need to transport it during a move. It’s also attractive which makes it a great gift idea.I am OCD with things like this and literally spent hours researching boards and pieces. Believe me when I tell you this is the best one in the budget range and you’ll be happy.I’ve included 14 pictures from various angles and in different lighting so you can get an idea of how it looks. Good board

Combine it with a fierce knight chess pieces estimately size 3.5 inches (king).
Nice board. Exactly the color and design I wanted to get. Looks like a board for professionals. I combined it with a set of Queen's Gambit chess pieces. Looks like a very expensive chess set, despite my actual outlay (about $190). I highly recommend purchasing this item!

The media could not be loaded. This Amerous Chessboard is extremely attractive and well-made. Four rubber pads on its bottom are a great plus. Totally satisfied with my purchase. Look at the colors!
