easy and effective
i have what i assumed was a vole problem. visible tunnels indicated by lines of dead grass all over my yard. bought 2 traps plus the install kit. started off with just putting 1 trap out just to see how it works. super easy to install. located a raised dirt spot along one of the straight paths, stuck the rod, from the installation kit, in the mound and it plunged in. cut a hole with the hole cutter, from the installation kit, and installed the trap. filled in around the trap a little bit with the dirt removed with the cutter. whole process took about 30 seconds. about 2 minutes later my wife said she heard a snap in the back yard. I checked the trap, and lo-and-behold, i caught a vole. Reset the trap and left it overnight. the next day, another vole caught. reset the trap in the same location, 2 hours later, another vole. Now i am more confident in the trap, so i set the other one up in a different location, and I ordered 2 more. i think the trick is to locate the "runways". they are like highways they use to go to and from a den. they will be long paths that may zig zag around trees or other forms of cover for them. i chose a path that lead from a round spot of dead grass, all the way through my yard and into a preserve behind my house. they probably use this to leave the yard and forage for food to bring back to the den. other paths in the yard seem to come to a dead end. these are just exploratory paths that they eventually abandon. to be sure of this, step on one of the paths to collapse it in. check it the next day. if it is raised up again, then it is an active tunnel and you can set a trap anywhere along it. GET THE INSTALLATION KIT WITH IT. it is worth it and makes installing the traps super easy. then you can always buy more traps****update: I have discovered what I am catching are actually shrews. They are using the existing vole tunnels to find food. I have been finding the traps lying over, or pushed out of the tunnels completely. I think the voles are doing this because they are a bit bigger. Trap may be too lightweight for them. Dont know how effective they are with moles/voles yet because I actually haven’t caught one. Deducting a star****another update. Found a fresh mound. Set the trap and caught a mole. Not a vole, not a shrew. Wasn’t expecting a mole. Still catching shrews in a different part of my yard. I think they have taken up residence in abandoned tunnels. I think the trick to catching the mole was setting it deeper to make sure the entire hole was leading into the trap. Digging too shallow only uncovers part of the hole and they have to redig which pushes dirt into the trap and trips it. i have caught only 1 more shrew since catching the mole, and there has been no more activity. still have the traps set in random parts of my yard. changing back to 5 starts

Not As Advertised - Incomplete - Major Parts Not Mentioned Additional 2 Purchases Required
Well as a consumer you have to determine many things for sale at Amazon now. I read reviews and it seemed like worth a try. Then the box came See Photo 1 - ok open box there is a grey plastic object if you push down on handle it snaps right back up. Seems faulty construction - how do you get it in the ground?Well that is the surprise. You go to the Instructions on back see Photo 2and you immediately realize you don't have 1 or 2 of 3 parts to this trap. You NOW realize why you can't get it in ground. You need to BUY parts 1 and 2.I really wanted to try this at a certain price point. I don't even know WHERE or HOW to buy the other 2 parts. With a metal trap available at Menards Box Store that is close to same price and WILL achieve the desired outcome humainly.Plastic does not the best material - this was complicated purchasing and as far as I'm concerned came incomplete - missing parts. If the Ad would have shown 3 parts with 2 more to purchase I would not have ordered. I really am disappointed.I wish Amazon would have caught this and made the manufacturer provide ALL the information. I'd not have wasted me time and Amazons to return.

Easy Peasy
I've had a gopher tearing up my front yard for the last month. Tried sonic spikes and gave it the option to leave peacefully, it chose another route.Went through three different trap types, gopher just plowed dirt over them. Finally bought this, and caught the little menace the second time using it.Good price, easy to use, highly recommended.

Purchase the optional kit
Didn't realize you needed something to bore a hole to get started. No, I didn't read all the information. They sell a not so optional hole cutter. Trap looks easy to use but now I have to play around coming up with something to make the hole so it can be inserted or order the optional $12.36 kit.

IT WORKED FROM DAY ONE!!
In 2022 we had a spectacular stand of “Surprise Lillies” (see photo). However, over the spring we noticed holes in the area where the bulbs were multiplying & growing. By last year we had literally less than 1/3 the yield (we should have had at least double as in year’s past!)Yesterday, I set out 2 of these traps because caster oil granules were useless.Around sunset I checked the traps and a I found a very well fed chipmunk with his mouth and pouches were crammed with 3 my lily bulbs. This product works. I Just put it along an established running path or at an entrance. If a well used entrance put the tap in a clean tunnel then build dirt before the tunnel (so they think they have to re open the tunnel and then, “WACK”! ☠️UPDATE 9/22/24: I have killed seven varmints with that single trap in one location. ✅ This product is fantastic, beyond five – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star!!!

Effective trap but could be sturdier.
The trap has caught 4 moles/voles thus far in about a month. Many times they push dirt into the trap and it springs without catching anything, so you have to reset the handle and replace it into the tunnel. It was effective on larger and smaller moles/voles. You need to find the right depth tunnel and orient the openings in trap to be effective. Overall it is effective despite that it does not seem very sturdy. At the time of the review, its long term effectiveness can't be assessed.

Set it, and don’t forget it
I set a few in the garden, the entire time thinking they’re not strong enough to do anything. Left em for a few days, and next thing you know, gophers no more.Piece of cake to setup, and works as advertised. Will certainly buy again if these ever break down.

Sehr effektiv.

Positief.
