I have no idea how "harissa" is actually supposed to taste. This is a completely un-filtered review of flavor. It's liquidy, with finely ground chunks, and needs no chewing. The overall base flavor is super fresh peppers...very refreshing and clean. It's salty like a good kalamata olive (actually is quite like a kalamata), with a mild/moderate transparent heat that is also richly tasty. (I'm not a glutton for punishment with heat by the way).As a lover of all things umami, salty, oily and vinegarish (Of which this is not vinegarish)... this is a dang tasty item, and is not a combination I've ever had before. Quite unique. Perfect for a condiment on an otherwise great sandwich, as a part of an oven dish, or just by the spoonful straight from the fridge. But...if this is what they serve in Morocco, it seems like I might like the place. Hope that helps!Edit: upon swiftly emptying two jars from similar package dates (2019's) that were amazing and delicious... and receiving a new shipment that has older production dates, I have come to discover that the heat level is greatly variable, due to some variable! It's 2020. The 2019 batch wasn't hot at all. The 2018 batch, however, can melt faces. It will be a significant bit longer before I will finish these next 2 jars.

Update! Not sure what happen to this descent product. It used to be thick and taste. Now it’s waterier with almost no flavor. I usually buy 4 at the time. I gave them the opportunity of double when the quality went down as they customer service was veery professional. My advice as a consumer, if you decided scale your product make sure you don’t lose what sets your product apart from the rest. It’s not always about how to increase the net profit if it’s costing you loyal customers

But I love it ! It taste very similar to how they make it in Israel! I just came from there and was looking for the exact taste and this was very close! Extremely simple and taste amazing! Thank you so much I’ll be purchasing again!

Small and disgusting

I was recently introduced to this condiment and was urged to try this particular brand. For comparison, I also bought the competing brand. This sauce was too salty for a low-salt person like me, but the pepper and lemon flavors came through well. This could be used for seasoning in a cooked dish, a glaze, or in a stew, but not alone and raw. It's too salty. I made a lamb stew and this added a nice touch, and I marinated chicken with it, also good. But I don't think this will work as a raw salsa or dip for chips or veges. The competitor's version was more rounded with flavors and was usable as a raw dip, not too salty. It was also "hotter" than this one. These ingredients are very simple and pure, their selling point, and I believe it is made in Morocco, if that's a benefit.

just what i was looking for

I often find myself searching for just the right spice element to add to my dishes, but I've had a hard time finding one product that complemented a wide variety of foods. I'm SO happy I found this Harissa sauce...it has done the trick completely! I've been able to use it in multiple ways to add a really flavorful kick to recipes (some of which really need help...think cauliflower rice). I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice tolerance, so I use very little. The good thing there is that it doesn't take much to add great flavor, and the jar will undoubtedly last me a LONG time. I also want to point out that it's made from only four ingredients...nothing artificial, and I think that's specific to this brand. Much appreciated.
