I purchased this as a replacement for a Harbor Freight AC detector that I loved but that HFT no longer sells. I wish I'd bought more of the old ones! This performs similarly, but it is not nearly as sensitive as the OG. With this one, I really need to get the detector to press hard against the hot conductor before it'll activate and give its sound and light emission indicating power. When it activates, it is accurate, however, it is prone to giving false-negatives if I am not pressed right up against the correct side of a sheathed conductor.

I guess you get what you pay for. Whether the power was on or off, it would not show thru the plate. You had to have the plate off and touch the area to test. Not good enough for me.

While the product works as expected, it does look and feel cheap. It doesn't measure current, it detects it. If you need to measure electrical current, this product will not meet your needs. We used it as a safety tool, to ensure electricity was turned off, when changing two circuit breakers at home. It's faster to use it than a multimeter.

Well made product. 2 modes of sensitivity are very handy. And the most important benefit for me - this thing is loud and bright. The flashlight is also a very nice feature!

I have used it a few times. It worked without any issues all the time. Have been using it for last month or so. Got this because this was priced much lower.

It do the work but is not too sensitive to voltage and doesn’t get hold on the slots of the outlets and too big to get in thight places

it detects the live wire faster than live outlet prong. with the outlet, it needs to think about it before makes a call

Don't buy/ use. Dangerously not picking up voltage. Have had this and used it about 4 months. The voltage detector is not accurate. I have many false no voltage reading on this detector.
