Good for the cost, but not pro
It doesn't melt as easily as other cheaper cable but it is a pain to work with since the shield and foil are all wrinkled together.

XLR Cable Spool — Quality and Volume
Used to create XLR cable for sub and cable spool was useful in obtaining the appropriate cable length I needed for my first of many projects.

You get what you pay for.
This is low cost cable. It works, but does not compare to higher quality (and more expensive) cable.First, the conductors are not pure copper, but rather a copper alloy that is commonly found in low cost, high volume products like telephone cords. The connections in these products are usually crimped or micro-welded. Why? Because this alloy does not accept solder flux very well. So, when soldering connectors on this wire you need to use more time, which increases the amount of heating of the wire. And there is always a risk of a cold solder joint.Second, the wire insulation and jacket are plastic, not rubber. They get the job done, but are more sensitive to heat and will not wear as well over time. So combined with the extra heat needed to solder, you need to be careful not to melt the insulation when wiring on a connector. It has a reasonable flexibility, and the selection of colors is nice. I can live with the plastic.Third, I really like the use of cotton cord for the packing around the conductors. Most cable uses a nylon stranded cord for this, which is stronger but harder to work with in my opinion. And there is a lot more of the cotton cord than there would be of the nylon, which I think should better protect the conductors from damage. So all in all, this is a cable that trades some quality to hit a relatively low price point. Its failings are not showstoppers. If you can afford better cable, I would not recommend this product. If you are on a budget, this cable will get the job done as long as you take care with your soldering technique.Update: by using liquid solder flux in addition to rosin core solder, the problem with wetting seems to be resolved. I have only made one cable since purchasing the liquid flux, but it worked well.

Smells like pot. No kidding.
You’re probably not going to believe me here... but this wire smells like kanabis. Marijuana. Pot. Seriously. Every time I cut a length and start to work with it, I get a HUGE headache. This is the kind of headache I get almost instantly when someone lights up a joint nearby. Take it for what you will, it’s horrendous to me. The smell is permeated into the rubber or something, it’s terrible.
