Finger Pinch Guard by Wittle. Wish we had these for our kids in the 80s.
We babysit our twin toddler grandchildren once a week. They are both starting to walk and are exploring everything. Shopping for life's second "child proofing" cycle I spotted these foam rubber bumpers at a local big-box lumber/hardware store. I liked them so much I went back for more a couple of weeks later but they had disappeared from the shelves and with no apparent plan for restocking them. Shame! So I visited Walmart (they carried them but were out of stock) and several drug store chains. Nothing, so off to the web! I found these at Wittle through Amazon Smile, ordered them, and had them within 3 days. These are made of high-density rubber foam and slide over the end of the door with good grip on smooth paint or varnish. I believe they are closed cell as well which means they are probably washable and won't act like sponges in the unlikely event they get dirty. They provide a good one inch gap between the door and the jamb to protect those tiny fingers. You can locate then anywhere on the door edge and I would recommend mounting them above the toddler's reach. Check to make sure that older door doesn't flex enough to undo the protection if the Guard is installed higher! The Guards pull right off if you need to actually close a door and they are small enough not to take up much space on a shelf or countertop. I suppose we could take ours down weekly to allow them to recover shape, but most of them have been left up since we installed them with no problems. Those that are removed do return to their original shape, and I believe if they ever lost their grip it could be restored with some light sanding of the grip area. They are so simple, effective, and easy to use that I highly recommend them.

Simple, effective, and easy to position and remove
These pinch guards are just what we needed to prevent our daughter from slamming doors shut and, more importantly, from slamming her fingers in a door. The product itself is simple: a slightly flexible c-shaped piece of white foam which you simply attach to the edge of a door you don't want slammed shut. It "pinches" the door edge and holds itself in place, so you can attach it anywhere along the top or side of the door (but of course if you attach it low on the door your little one may just pull it off). They are easy to place, remove, and reposition, and they do NOT leave any sort of mark or residue on your door.NOTE: Where you place these on your doors is important. They will prevent a door from closing regardless of where you place them on the door, preventing fingers from being pinched on the handle/knob edge of the door. But if you are worried about fingers getting pinched on the hinge side of the door (which would probably cause a fractured finger), you would need to place these on the top of the door close enough to the hinges to prevent the door from closing very much at all. For the door of our daughter's bedroom this is a very real possibility, so we have to position these pinch guards accordingly.

Work perfectly
I purchase these because one of my mother's bedroom doors does not stay open. It slowly closes but not completely, her cat likes to close the door from the inside. So I bought these so he could not push on the door and close it and it works like a charm. Super soft and durable. Can secure anywhere on the door at the top or the bottom or the side. This was definitely worth it.

Perfect Solution for My Puppy!
They are working really well! Perfect solution for what I needed it for.I have a swinging butler door between my dining room and kitchen. I have a puppy that I need to keep out of the dining room. I was putting one of the dining chairs against the door to keep him from jumping on the door, making it swing open and then getting through into dining room. The problem with that was, each time he tried to jump on the door while the chair was keeping it from opening on the other side, the door would bang up against my chair leaving the door with dents. The other problem, there is no handle on this door, only a push plate, so when I needed to get through the door, it was almost impossible for me to open since the dining chair was keeping it from swinging forward and I had no way to pull it toward me. The finger pinch guards were the perfect solution. It prevents my pup from swinging the door open in the direction of the dining room and it also keeps the door slightly forward making it so much easier for me to grab the door when I need to open it. I love these! No more damage to my door, the puppy stays out of the dining room and I can easily open it when I need to. Thank you!

Great addition to protect fingers and toes.
Good product fits good on top of the door. Keeps my kids finger safe from getting caught when the door gets closed. If they do take a beating they will break but that’s expected. I would recommend this product for anyone with kids looking to keep the door from getting slammed/closed with kids in the home.

Very Useful for more than just Baby
The Finger Pinch Guards are working very well and have helped us to keep our doors from slamming shut. We have our finger pinch guards on two different doors all the time, the one to our bedroom and one to the stairwell upstairs, as well as one on the bathroom door occasionally. Our main purpose currently is to keep our doors from closing completely as well as being slammed shut when we go from room to room. With a small son who loves being held and a dog who loves to chase the cats, they make it significantly easier to close the door just enough to keep the dog uninterested as well as easier to push the door open while holding our son. My son is just starting to reach out and grab things, so when the time comes that he inevitably grabs a door, the Finger Pinch Guards will undoubtedly keep his fingers from getting pinched, which gives me peace of mind that his fingers will never get caught in the closing door. Overall, they are a very well-made and useful product that will never cease to come in handy!
