Smaid Grill Mat Set of 4, Get these or regret messing up a perfect grille!
You can't go wrong with grill mats. Teflon coated fiberglass is the best way to grill. Keep the mess on the mat, not the grill, is my new motto.I bought this set for a friend. My set is still giving good service. At first, using the grill mat was a bit of a challenge. Mainly because I didn't know how best to clean them. I've since figured it out and here's how you do it. You carry the mat into the house and set in the kitchen sink and turn on the tap and let the water get hot. The mat itself will cover the drain and when you get enough hot water, as hot as you can stand it, you squirt or pump some dish washing liquid into it and let the mat stand a while. The length of time is up to you. I started off thinking the longer I let it set the easier it would be to scrub the grime off. Turns out it really doesn't matter. The trick was to use one of those brass scrubbies or scrubbing pads. As you scrub around and get the worst of the mess off, you lift the mat and let that gunk go down the drain. Then, you turn on the tap and give some more water and add some more soap and now you begin to scrub at those carbon deposits that have burned onto the mat from that fat juicy steak you just cooked. Pork chops, hamburgers, you name it, all just taste so much better when seared and cooked in their own juices. Okay, back to the scrubbing. I use a finger to kind of feel around for any small or leftover carbon spots that I might have missed while scrubbing in that now dirty water. Rinsing and repeating a few times and keeping after those spots until you find you have got them all. Once you've done this several times you'll get good at it and it will take you less and less time. As the mats age you will get areas or spots here and there that will begin to show wear. But, as long as the larger portion in the middle where you cook the most is still intact these will last you a long time. I think we are going on two years now with ours. You do get the grill marks on the meat you cook too. One more important thing. Don't forget to use the Pam spray. This makes for an oh so easy clean up with the scrubby pad. If you forget, you will regret it as you will scrub for half an hour or more trying to get every last bit of carbon on that mat that you want to keep as new and clean as you can. Go ahead, make the purchase. You won't regret it, trust me. :)

really nice...for a while
Review update after owning them for 1.5 years:I still like these. But the non-stick doesn't last as long as I'd like. They're still better than putting food (especially fish) directly on the grill but they can be a challenge to clean. The skin tends to stick to the mat and it's hard to clean it off. I still recommend them but it's clear I'm going to have to replace them more often than I thought.Original review:Another new invention that makes life easier! We had been using the metal perforated tray/pans on the grill for cooking fish and vegetables but even when I bought the supposedly non-stick variety, they were impossible to clean. And they warped. I went through several of them and was never happy. These mats are a great alternative. We can cook a fish fillet or vegetables directly on the mat. Yes, stuff sticks to the mat but I just drop it in the sink and let it soak for 5 minutes and everything just peels right off. Then a quick scrub with hot soapy water and you're done! They are fairly thin which is why you can get the grill lines to show and we've almost worn through one of them. Metal tools are likely the cause. I've cut up a couple of the others in the box for some indoor use such as a glass pan I use for baking fish and another aluminum pan which I've always had difficulty cleaning. I haven't found any downside to cooking with these and they're definitely much easier to clean than a pan.

Best 10 bucks I've ever spent!
One word, Wow! I mean really really wow! I never thought a 10 bucks order can be so helpful, these Mats really work, I use them every day now, and not as grill mats only, we use them on top of the oven tray, it saves us so much work in cleaning the oven trays, and what is better? Our bakeries and roasted meat/chicken never stick , so you get extra favour from the oils and juices, I have no single complain about these Mats, I used them over my electric grill and oven for almost 2 months now and they are durable, will definitely recommend

Works great
I have used this once. The food cooked well and quickly. The food had grill marks. After the mat had cooled, I put it in the sink in an inch or two of water with Dawn. I let it soak for a while and everything wiped off with a dish cloth. FYI, I thoroughly cleaned my grill racks by taking them out and using Oven-Off as I wanted to put the mat on a clean surface and also to see what the rack looked like after. The rack was nicely clean after cooking and as the grill was clean, the mat was clean on the bottom. I have small grill, so one mat fits it perfectly and I can store the mat on the grill. Now I have three spares in the box. This made the grill cooking experience easier, cleaner and quicker.

Works very well in some cases...
First use of the mats was with some boneless skinless chicken breasts. Worked very well and kept the little amount of juices with the chicken. They browned well.Much different results when we grilled hamburgers and another time with skin on chicken thighs. Both of these times a HUGE fire resulted in the grill. While the fat/grease doesn’t drop down through the grates into the fire, what happens is that it pools up on the mat then runs off an edge of the mat and onto the ends of the flame bars like a river. Glorious grease fires followed.I will not use these again with any fatty foods. Lean cuts of meat and roasting vegetables is fine. Don’t like the way they feed a grease fire with the fattier foods. The fat isn’t able to drop on the flavoizer bars and then into the normal grease collectors. One of the grease fires these caused was in the frame of the gas grill. Not cool. Scared.

Identical to the much more expensive TV commercial grill Mat!
These are great and as good as the considerably more expensive ones I bought originally from the TV commercial.
