Exactly what I needed
First off, the product came well packaged and all of the pieces appear to be high quality. The box is strong, organized well, and has magnetic closures. The stones are all flat and produce great results.I bought this set to repair and sharpen the blade on an old Japanese Deba knife. The blade edge had many chips in it from years of being mistreated. This whetstone system made easy work to put a super fine edge on the blade. The instructions are clear and easy to understand.I am in no way an expert knife sharpener, but I am very pleased with the results. For the quality, price, and most importantly the results, this set is a great value that I am looking forward to using for years to come.

Exceptional Quality, Exceptional Value
First of all, this Whetstone Sharpener Set came in a nice storage box with magnetic lid closures. Pretty cool. The manufacturer's packaging of this Set is impressive too. Each piece to this Set is arraigned nicely and well protected. The 400/1000 3000/8000 Grit Water Stones are of a high quality and are perfectly flat. In fact, each piece to this Set is of high quality. I was pleasantly surprised by all of this because the price is so low. It's nice to have purchased a professional grade product at an amazingly low cost. This Set is great not only for those skilled at whetstone sharpening but also for those desiring to develop the skills of sharpening. Learning to hold the blade at a consistent angle is the KEY. The great thing is there are helpful videos all over the internet. The results I achieved were razor sharp. Overall, I cannot be more pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this Set to both seasoned sharpeners and beginners.

Great value, needs context
This is a great system, depending on your experience sharpening blades. If you've never sharpened a knife before and want to learn on an entry level kit, this has everything you need. . . . but you need to be glued to youtube for a few hours before getting started. This system has the ability to get an edge that will lop off a digit or two if you're not careful. If you have had a lot of experience with a multitude of stones and have got blades sharp on a cheap Arkansas hones for a long time, this will be different for you. But still productive.Pros - Fantastic presentation in a well made gift box.Everything you need except for water all in one kitDecent enough instructions to get someone startedCons - Instructions tell you not to submerge the 3000/8000 hones in water, bad idea. Always soak your stones before use if they are soaking stones. Without soaking them, any water you splash on them get's absorbed immediately and is no benefit to you during passes. You MUST do this process with fully wet stones or you will ruin them. Even if they do wear out prematurely, you just have to do it this way. They are NOT splash n go stones. It would be very beneficial to include a QR code on the inside of the box linking you to a partner or the actual brand rep walking you through this process. If they're going to price / market this as a gift set they need to anticipate newcomers to the sport and take on the chore of showing how it's done. Charge another $10 per for that production cost, it would still be worth the money.Last con, and this one is big, the 8000 grid stone is NOT 8000 grid. And 8000 grit stone, when wet, should feel like a pane of glass. I don't know what grit this actually is, but it's far from 8000. The 3000 is probably close to 3000 but the 8000 is more like 3500 or 4500. Take it SLOW and easy on this stone. No pressure needed. Or you will take several steps back on your edge and need to go back to the 3000 if you're not careful. All in all it's a great kit and a worthy investment if you respect the knives in your home. When used correctly it will easily get razor edges on just about anything. My advice would be to learn as much as you can prior to trying it if you're new to the process. If you're a seasoned vet, you're probably not even reading this review anyway.

Near Perfection!!!
π **A Cosmic Slice of Sharpness: The KERYE Japanese Whetstone Sharpener Set** πWhere does one begin when they've encountered perhaps the most extraordinary set of sharpening stones this side of the Andromeda Galaxy? Let me tell you, my dear earthlings, this isn't just a whetstone set; it's a ticket to the Sharpening Olympics, and I'm not even sure we're competing yet!**400/1000 Grit Stone**: This oneβs like the bread and butter of the set. It's where the magic begins. Dull knives? Please. After a dance on this stone, your kitchen tools will cut through an onion like it's made of air. It's so effective, I'm pretty sure it could even sharpen wits!**3000/8000 Grit Stone**: Now, if you think the 400/1000 was impressive, this stone is where you polish your blade to a mirror finish. I'm talking about a shine so reflective, you could use your newly sharpened knife to check if thereβs spinach in your teeth. It's like giving your knives a spa day, except they come back not only relaxed but also lethal in their precision.**Flattening Stone**: Ah, the unsung hero. Keeps those whetstones from becoming as uneven as a bad haircut. It's like the chiropractor for your stones, adjusting them back to perfection. Because, let's face it, even the best tools need maintenance unless you want to end up with blades that cut at an angle only useful for abstract art.**Honing Guide**: This little gadget is genius. It's like a GPS for your blade's edge. No more freehand sharpening that results in losing more metal than a blacksmith on a bad day. This guide ensures you maintain the blade's original geometry, or as close as a human can get without bionic enhancements.**Cut Resistant Gloves**: These aren't just gloves; they're the Iron Man suits of the sharpening world. Ever tried to sharpen a knife and felt the terrifying near-miss of your own flesh? No more! With these gloves, you can sharpen with the confidence of a samurai, without the fear of turning your sharpening session into a horror movie.**The Experience**: Using this set is like attending a masterclass in blade care. Each component is meticulously thought out, from the stones that feel like they're made from meteorite dust to the gloves that could probably withstand a ninja star. It's so comprehensive, I wouldn't be surprised if they threw in a small sharpener for your wit.**The Verdict**: If you're in the market for something to make your blades sharper than the tongue of a seasoned politician, look no further. The KERYE Japanese Whetstone Sharpener Set isn't just a tool; it's an experience, a journey, a bit like a pilgrimage to the holy land of sharpness. In short, if your knives could talk, they'd thank you. They'd whisper sweet nothings about how you've restored their youth, their vigor, their very purpose in life. If sharpening knives was an art form, this set would be the Mona Lisa. Buy it, use it, become the kitchen samurai you were always meant to be. πππππ
