Totally recommended!
Wow I didn't expect it to be this good. This is a great light hearted novel about a young man and his path to be a cultivator i.e. magi. The MC is very likable and all the main characters have depth to them. I love the character interactions especially with his beloved. Be warned that this is a slow moving story. It's a bit wordy with a lot of dialogue. But the payoff is very good. Lots of unexpected twists and turns, and still a lot of mystery to unfold! Can't wait to get started on the next one.

An absolute belter of a start
I am already in love with this new series. It's clear to me just how much attention to the world and characters the author has invested. I am aching to sink my teeth into the next entry in the series. Without a doubt the best of his works that I've read thus far.

A very different read. Slow-paced and Interesting Book.
The concept of having aether rich food particularly for magi and different food for non magi is different and the author's strive for detail in that regard piqued my interest. This is not an Isekai Overpowered Protagonist Crap like the rest of the recently trending fantasy stories out there. Gregory Pettit is definitely an interesting character and I'm calling it now that Divine Emperor Toja will be the only person to be a match for him in the near future. Good piece of Fiction. 👍

Nice start, worth reading
Superior to the other Schinhofen's I've read.... seems like a more mature write... a better story base, though slower in the build up. Enough left for different potential directions for future

Intersting but sappy at the same time
-1 star for the superfluous dialogues and lot of it to boot. It's almost like the author enjoys writing formal dialogues that he keeps milking it. Most times it makes me gag.

Bad
Didn't like it at all...how come the famous ones here are always like that...And what's with the pornography...at least warn us in description...waste of time

How this book is rated this high?
There are few interesting scenes in the book but overall it is very boring. I am wondering how this book got these many 5star ratings.

Great book.
Well written book, I've been in a book slump for a few weeks and this pulled me out of it in a big way, ended up finishing it in a weekend. The book reminds me a bit of Forth Wing but with no dragons and a lot less violence and death. It's told mostly from Greg's POV with occasional insight to thoughts of other characters. It has some slower burn romance, and few intimate scenes, but not overly descriptive. There is A LOT of Japanese culture influence both on the outfits/activities and social behaviors. That could be a plus or a minus depending how you look at it. Book one's romance is solely focused on a single woman, but there are hints in book two at harem style relationships, I'm not there yet so I don't know how well it's done yet.Overall I really like the book, it's a bit of Slice of Life in a magical academy with some action and romance sprinkled in.

Loved it
Loved it, the magic/aether thematic ia great that the empire where the MC lives is based on oriental countries. This arc Starts before the MC gets to know if he is or not blessed by aether (obviously he is, if not the book would have been wrongly named), to the first semester of the academy, it finishes after the first tournament.
