Q: La crosse technology v22-wrth-int professional weather station, black/silver can''t connect to internet. what does provisional mode mean?

LaCrosse may be a better source of assistance. However, I discovered that all components need to be on the same SSID in my case I had to create a 2.4GB SSID and join everything to it. My router is a multi function unit broadcasting 2.4 and 5 GB on the same SSID. So two SSIDs. After that all components worked as advertised. Returned the system system to the seller (not LaCrosse) and got a refund. I have an older version with separate rain, thermo/hygrometer, wind speed/direction sensors. Purchased new sensors for the older display and moved on.

Q: This model seems to be newer and similar to the v40 pro, based on the review dates. but does the v22 connect to weather underground like the v40?

This model has a internet connection to the National Weather Service.

Q: Does it work without wifi

Note, Ron James was incorrect about the sensors connecting to the display unit using wifi. The sensors do not have wifi antennas in them and transmit on much lower frequencies. Only the display unit has wifi, which can optionally be used to send the data collected to La Crosse's servers (enabling access using their phone app when away from home), as well as download various information from the internet (such as extra icons for the display, sync with internet time servers, etc.). It's actually preferable that the sensors do not use wifi to connect to the display. The lower frequency is able to penetrate through obstructions better, so they have a greater range than if they were using wifi.

Q: i have wifi on my computer for my tablets, i have no cell phone will this work for me?

Yes. You do not even need your phone . It has its own wi.fi. if you download the app tablet or cell phone you get more action.
