Good supplement to school work
Bought for my child for practice in summer. I think it's helpful for kids that feel ELA an challenging subject.

Some typos and grammar mistakes
I'm a teacher and I'd hoped for something I could use as a tutor for students getting ready for 8th grade and high school. Definitely didn't work for me. For starters, I've found grammar errors--since this is an English Language Arts book, I would think this would have been obvious. Example in the directions: "Only spelling mistakes in the above passage HAS been corrected..." Another reason is that it's mostly just passages with multiple choice questions and some short writing prompts. There's no background information or lesson on the concepts it's supposed to be teaching. The online portal just has more of the same--standardized test questions after a passage. It does keep track of their progress as they continue to take the tests, though, so it could be useful if you're just looking for test prep. Just be sure you're aware of the grammar mistakes so you can correct them. Maybe the math books are better?

Not an extensive tool
The book provides less than expected or implied from the promotional material. Would not recommend except as a tertiary supplement.

Poorly written (by non-native English speaker?)
Many grammatical errors. Numerous questions were vaguely worded, and the answers provided were often simplistic and illogical. I doubt this was written by English teachers or even native English speakers.
