These are awesome! It’s so helpful the words have some letters provided to give a little hint. Then, progresses up to no letters provided. Great confidence builder.

I'm not sure why all the bad reviews seem to focus on the make of the cards...these cost six bucks. No, they're not laminated. No, they don't need to me. I can't speak for other households, but we keep the cards inside the box they came in when not in use.It also seems unfair to rate poorly on the card material, when that has nothing to do with the item itself. I purchased these for my 7 year old when they started using contractions. I don't remember much about 1st grade, but I know I wasn't learning contractions. These cards work well for us, and help my son differentiate long and short sounding vowels. We don't use the picture side very often, because that tends to give him the answer without reading. But I like that it's offered! After he reads the word on the back he will tell me which letter is missing on the photo side.Overall, great product and great price!

My daughter loves these cards I love how the words are on the opposite side of the picture in the picture part is missing a letter so they have to figure it out

I do love these cards, but I wish they had more sight words included as that is what my son and his class are working on, but the general spelling knowledge does seem to be spilling over into his sight words.

These are great for my purpose. I'm a volunteer reading tutor, using them with second graders who are still struggling to hear the sounds of letters inside words. This is the best tool I have found for that yet.

Perfect for my granddaughter. These cards turns learning into FUN!!! She went from a C to an b in just 6 weeks!!!!

Contains different type cards-- look at a picture and spell the name of the object (bird, chair, etc) or action (kiss, pull, etc), and look at a picture and fill-in-the-blank (picture of a BALL with B-_-_-L).

In the days of quarantine, these are a great tool when working with young children. I recommend them for fun or educational purposes.

Love these cards! There is picture recognition, filling in the gaps of the words, and in my use actual spelling on the back side! Simply hold up the word and it works on my son’s spelling. Absolutely love these. So much more fun than the Kumon books (but of course doesn’t have the written lessons like the Kumon books.Update 2 weeks later. I’ve gone through all 240 cards and want to share that my son has total confidence in his reading of words now! We here at home hard and he read the aisle signs of electrical, heating and hardware. I was sooooo proud!Next to start the intro to grade 2Reminder, these flash cards have the whole word on the back of each card. That has been the gold for us!!!! My younger son loves the picture sides and the boys compete :)Update 2 years later. I purchased another set for my second son. They worked just as great as the first time.

It was very useful in teaching my 1st grader 4 letter and 3 letter word spelling.

I use these for my son who is in kindergarten. He loves using these.
