Keep in mind I'm no gpio/spi expert of any kind.It took me a while to fully understand how to use this thing properly, as the provided code is very basic. As an array of four 74HC595 chips, it can be a little tricky to make it work with some of the libraries out there (wiringPi, etc.).Pros:-Beautiful, bright lights.-built-in board for the 4 74HC595 (no cable mess).Cons:-Hard to mount on other hardware.-Black paint on front panel wears off quickly.

Initially hated it. All it displayed was red. Only red. There is little to no documentation on how this works. After a lot of research and experimentation, I can finally make this work. You cannot show red, green, blue at the same time. Too much red pulls down the voltage needed for blue to display at the same time. Sometimes even green suffers. Output the red line, then the green, then blue, all separately. Take out the delays and that removes the flicker on the display.I will post my working code on my website soon - rowdy1.com - . Nobody should have to start with code that does not work right.

As with many of these cheap Chinese products there is NO documentation. The reference give in the listing is for a completely different board. The circuit is simple enough to reverse engineer. However, at least the one I received would not even power up -- let alone respond to any inputs. A complete waste of time and money; it is going back. This is just more electronic junk to add to the world's pollution.
