Has been nothing but problems
I've been a fan of Yamaha hifi products for a long time, they've always been built like workhorses whilst sounding great. I had this unit paired up with a Yamaha A-560 (which is about 40 years old and still going strong). At first, no issues, the CD player worked great, sounded great and of course looked great. The problem is, after about 3 or 4 months I started to notice a little crackle or background noise to some of my CDs to the point where I thought; Hmm, must be something wrong with the disc, I even replaced some of those CDs, I didn't think for one moment it was the CD Player but the noises persisted, even with brand new CDs. I tried changing some of the downstream elements, tried connecting the CD-S303 to my secondary Harmon Kardon amp and some different speakers, again the noises could occasionally be heard. Yamaha Customer Support were of very little help, blaming it on potential bad wiring or possible elecronic interference. Then, after 11 months the CD tray just stopped working. On this occasion Yamaha Customer Support were great, quick response and passed me over to their UK Service Centre. But it's now been with their Service Centre for over 3 weeks and all I keep getting back is that they're waiting for parts. So, I'm still waiting and getting extremely frustrated.I've got to say, this unit and the overall experience has really dented my confidence in Yamaha. I'd recently been thinking about splashing the cash on one of their newest high end receivers but after this experience I'm not going near any new Yamaha hifi products any time soon. Not a chance!I say do yourself a favour and steer clear of the CD-S303.

Crap
Blew up after about 18 months and parts could not be obtained to fix it. Very surprising from Yamaha.
