Fits door of 99 Miata well
I used these to install 8" 3-way speakers in my 99 miata. I wanted to enclose the speakers in these foam baffles in order to better protect them from weather (it gets wet inside your door!) and also to dampen vibration (the mounting screw goes through the foam, and the foam is between the speaker and the door). They worked pretty darn well!Pro:Fit the speakers wellInexpensiveGood sound-dampening and weather-proofing materialEasy to trim if you needDoes the job!Cons:None that I can think ofOther thoughts to consider:These were just a smidge on the "deep" side for the miata door. They got bunched up just a bit, but I don't see this as being a problem at all.You may want to cut a 2-3" hole in the bottom of the baffle. This will not only make getting your speaker wire into the baffle easier, but it will also help to increase bass resonance by allowing airflow (sealed vs open sub box except more exaggerated because of size).I also needed to trim some of the "edge" (the square part) to get this to fit well, but YMMV. It was very easy to trim and caused no issues whatsoever.

These are way deeper than I thought. Probably my fault for not reading the dimensions but they will not fit in a Miata door.

Functional and worth the money(in most cases)
These help block moisture from getting to expensive car audio speakers. They can be trimmed to fit, and are flexible. I have also coated them in fiberglass or epoxy to make a small subwoofer box for custom installations. Very functional. They may not be acoustically transparent, but expect more frequencies to pass through them than some of the ABS plastic enclosures out there. You can also use paint to make them less transparent to enhance midbass in smaller speakers where that sound may be desired.I see these as cheap insurance...if you are buying a set of car component speakers worth more than $200, these baffles will help them last longer and prevent the moisture common in most trunks and doors from corroding or otherwise damaging a set of high quality speakers.

Careless packaging and stacked too many caused foam to deform
This is what $71 of foam looks like. If you have a 8" Polk i wouldn't buy it. It doesn't cover the whole speaker as it should. You'll need at least a 10" baffle.

Worked great.
A little deeper than I needed but thats ok. Easy install just cut and screw down your speakers.Would use them again for sure.

Misleading Size
People talk about speakers in terms of the speaker size. If I order a 6.5 inch baffle - it should FIT a 6.5 inch speaker. Not so... This thing was 6.5 inches from edge to edge. The internal speaker area might clear a 3.5 inch round speaker. Even the expanded model descriptions didn't clarify what the heck to order. Threw them in the trash, won't waste my time with a company that seems to trick the buyer into ordering twice.

Mmmm, foamy
I used these baffles on my in ceiling speakers. I was hoping that using these would help to lower the crossover of my speakers when using my audyssey set up in my receiver. Unfortunately, these did not seem to have any discernable impact on the sound in this instance. The product itself is made of thick foam and is fairly flexable. This product would likely work best in an installation where you can install the baffle and then install the speaker - in my installation I had to install the baffle over the back of the speaker which made it difficult to surround the speaker and turned out to be not very effective. In conclusion, the product itself is good, but you may want to think about how it will be installed and if it will really have any impact to the sound or if you are just using it to keep moisture and debris out of your speaker.

Simple solution for quality installation of in ceiling speakers.
Good Value and performance. Purchased a home with speakers already mounted in the ceiling. when I went up to the attic to do additional wiring I found the blown in insulation covering these speakers and in between the speaker cone and frame on several speakers. I cleaned them out added these baffles and recovered both with the insulation. speakers sound great and attic is well insulated - a win - win. Would recommend these baffles for anyone doing in ceiling installation of speakers. they were available in several sizes so should be able to find one for your needs.
