High Quality, Sharp Printing. Hollow metal triangular tube with plastic end-caps that are very well secured. The printing has sharp edges (it's well defined); however, on three of the scales the lines go right up to the edge of the ruler and on the other three they stop about 0.5 mm short of the edge.

On the 1/400 scale for my ruler, it had what looked like some smudging near the end.It doesn't actually interfere with the function, it's just a minor cosmetic problem.Besides that, the numbers and lines feel solid, and they don't seem to immediately rub off like with some metal rulers.

This is perfect engineer scale for me! Superb quality - will serve many years.

It's not a bad ruler, what wasn't clear to me when I bought it, is that it is for large scale projects not tabletop ones. I was looking for an HO railroad scale ruler.

It is a functional engineers' scale. The color of the aluminum is a bit darker than the pictures suggest, but that is mostly cosmetic. It is not entirely clear from the pictures here, but one side has a red band, one side has a green band, and the third is just silver. This lets you know which side you are looking at.
