Good reading to prep for test
First time in 40 years I studied for the ASE test. This book gave me a great understanding of the working of the trans and related parts. I read and did the practice tests several times. I found it helped a lot. Took my ASE and got three questions incorrect. The book and series of books are worth the investment. Getting more to have my team at work study to get their certificates

Great book has some publishing flaws
Not sure if the publisher was drunk or what but I caught several mistakes in that book that made me question the accuracy of its content but overall it's still great book to use if your taking A3 and T3 or G1 however I do strongly encourage the publisher or writer to do a final QC on the copy before publishing

Helpful
Book was definitely helpful in getting me through the test. Especially if you're not use to taking manual transmissions apart. I did find there were one or two questions that were wrong when compared to the answer key. Answer key would say "tech A" but when going to explanations of the answers it would say tech b was correct. Watch for that.

Great series of educational books
Didn’t pass on my first try but missed by one point because the test is filled with filler or other testing questions beyond the scope of manual trans and rearends. But I did pass other the next try. Good refresher book to have and tests were all well explained on why I got wrong answers. I recommend this book series highly to every tech, if they believe ASEs will assist in their career

Great study guide!
Paired with a community college level education, this is a valuable study guide to assist in passing the ASE A3 test.

Good quick read for a recertification
Bought this to brush up on manual drivetrain/differential for my recertification. Good quick read for a recert. Probably not enough if you don't already have a solid base in manual trans. Much better than the auto trans book. Gave the auto trans 1 star. Luckily for the publisher manual trans hasn't changed much in decades unlike auto trans.

Good book to get to study for the ASE test
Good book to get to study for the ASE test. They prepare you well and they have a sample test at the end of the book to review but it really helps. I have always kept them as a reference.
