Solved Mazda 6 P0455 code & hard starting after gas fillup
I have a 2005 Mazda 6. After filling at a gas station it was very difficult to start, had check engine light, and using an OBDII reader I could see it was throwing a P0455 (EVAP System Large Leak) error code. After much online investigation I determined that the EVAP Purge Valve was the likely culprit. This part was an exact replacement for my purge valve. It was a little tricky to remove the existing valve - there are 3 hoses attached to it, and it is on the passenger side next to the firewall, and difficult to access. I was able to do it myself with some struggle. Upon removing the old part I was able to blow through it, proving it was defective, as the valve should normally (without power applied to it) be closed. This part went into the car exactly as the old part did. Upon re-starting my car, and using the OBDII code reader to reset the code, it now runs perfectly.

Fits 2007 Mazda 5
It fit my 2007 Mazda 5, at least. If you look for the OEM purge valve, it looks nothing like this and has a different part number. Dorman does not say it will fit the Mazda5. But this is what was on my car, and the replacement was simple with easy access.Couple words of caution:1. Before you buy this part, pull off the electrical connection on yours, and make sure this one will fit. I bought the Dorman 901-702 first, which looks (almost) just like this, but it has a different connector!2. The rubber holder slides backwards off the bracket, not up. Look at the new one to understand how it attaches.3.The tube fitting at the front is a very tight fit. Use a heat gun to lightly heat the tube, and once pliable enough, pull off the old part and shove on the new part quickly. Then attach fuel line from tank and electrical connector.I replaced this part because my engine was very hard to start after refueling. After a few minutes of rough idling, it would run fine. Replacing the vapor purge valve is supposed to fix that. Next time I refuel, I'll find out. At least now the engine light is no longer on.

Check engine light gone, possibly with new gas cap too.
Perfect fit for 2004 mazda 3 hatchback. Install is pretty straightforwad, watch a youtube video. The old valve seemed to be heatshrinked on, used a lighter to loosen it. Used a lighter to put it on the new one. So far it's doing its job, time will tell of course how long this one lasts so I'll update if anything changes. We had multiple codes so replaced with this purge valve and a new gas cap. Codes were 0441,0442,0455,2187 and 2404. The codes are now not showing. The gas cap that fit perfect was:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009B41LJ0?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

Can be Adapted for 2004 Mazda 3S
I bought this valve for my 2004 Mazda 3S 2.3L to save some money because the exact fit for the Mazda 3 costs like $70+. The valve is identical to the Mazda 3 one, but I had to adapt it using standard vacuum hose for the section connecting the valve with the intake manifold. I also reused the original 90deg connector to the intake manifold. Car is working fine and CEL light went away.

great price, great fit
this says its for mazda 6 and won't fit my 2004 mazda 3. I checked the connector and it looked similar so i took a chance. Perfect fit. Much better than spending $50 for the same part plus one of the hoses. I just kept the original hoses. Cleared the codes so we'll see if it comes back in a week. Before changing it, if i cleared codes it'd come back every two days

This did not work.
I replaced the valve and I kept getting the “check engine” light illuminating and the code was “replace air flow valve.” I ended up going to a chain auto store for a more expensive one and that one worked fine.
