Use on boat and in cabin
Gives peace of mind. It just detect very small leaks so they are easy to locate. Fixing those leaks.… that is another story. But this will tell you if you were successful.

Unusable, looks good but doesn’t perform
Amazon did their normally good job of delivering.Excited to receive this digital dream. Turned out to be electronic snake oil. My bride and daughter said they could smell the mercaptan in natural gas. We had recently had our home heating and cooling system replaced. Soap tests found nothing, so I bought this item to chase down the issue. Tested it on the range in the kitchen. Complete fail. Your nose is more sensitive than this thing. The kitchen was virtually flood with gas, this thing sensed nothing unless you put it within touching distance of the source. It beeps after the explosion.A Google search says humans can detect natural gas at the 10 ppm level. The description on this unit is contradictory. The Amazon site description says the range is 0 to 50,000 ppm. The label on the unit says 50 to 50,000 ppm. The math, using the supplied literature, meager as it is, calculates to 500 ppm minimum detection.Amazon graciously took it back.

detects gas
We used this once when we bought an gas dryer and wanted to know if we smell gas. We installed out gas dryer in the garage and it had a smell, turns out we did not tighten the gas hose so this detected a small leak of gas when it was in use. Tightened it and this no longer gets used unless you are installing gas type hoses.
