Really nice for the price.
These devices are not super accurate but they are accurate enough for most jobs, if you are looking for scientific accuracy then a much more expensive infrared camera would be a better choice. I did a few tests with this and another temperature gun I just got and the readings are within an acceptable range from one another.I used a probe to test cold water in a foam cup and the readings on this gun were a bit off to the probe compared to the other gun( about 2-5 degrees) . I also did the same test with hot water and again this gun was reading also a bit off to the probe temperature. Despite being a bit off, I think the readings on this gun were more accurate because it’s meant to read the surface temp of the cups bottom and not the water temp like the probe, the readings on this gun also make more sense on other surfaces I tested compared to the other gun based on room temperatures. This gun won’t read temps above 750f based on my tests so you can’t measure high heat objects like stove tops. The emissivity is also limited to .95 so you won’t get accurate readings on reflective surfaces. Getting around the emissivity is pretty easy so it’s not a huge deal, you just place a non reflective tape on a reflective surface to get its surface temperature. These guns come with a distance chart to get more accurate readings which is printed on the side of the gun, the distance determines the measuring diameter of an area. This gun has a backlit screen which is fine but does have some viewing angle issues for the screen when viewing from the sides. The build on this gun is pretty nice, it has rubberized plastic and it’s small which makes it super easy to hold. The laser can be turned off and it uses a 9v battery that comes included.Overall the temperature gun looks to work just fine and seems accurate enough for most jobs. I personally got these to work on powder coating, I rely more on the oven settings for temperature but these temp guns let me know when it safe to grab items for second coats during the same job. Power coat uses the average of 400f so the temp range is fine for me.

Quick and easy to use
It is very quick and easy to use. Point and pull trigger. Hold the trigger down and move it around and once you let go of the trigger, it displays the last temperature reading for about 15 seconds. Three settings buttons that toggle the features. One to toggle from Fahrenheit to Celsius. One to toggle the display back light, and one to toggle the red target light on and off.I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it seems pretty accurate based on simple use case. The items in the room seem to match the ambient temperature. Items in the fridge vary in temperature, but seems to be what you would expect. Overall temperature is 37 degrees, items near the door were about 40 degrees and 30 degrees where the cool air comes out.One thing I was hoping this would not have is the coating/plastic that it is made of. I could be wrong, but this is the stuff that feels nice and soft when new, but tends to get sticky over a long period of time in the heat/humidity. I've had that happen to several other plastic items that have this type of feel to them. I'm hoping that maybe at this time and age, they've corrected this type of issue with newer materials.I didn't see any instructions on how to open the battery compartment so I've posted some pictures. It opens pretty easily if you know where it opens and hinges.

Green and it works, 0.95 emissivity
This is my review of the ARCAN 9volt IR thermometer (ATHERM9V).First I’d like to point out that the ad states the temperature reading range is from -50℃ to 550℃, while what is on mine and in the instructions is -50℃ to 380℃ (-58℉ to 716℉). That is a big difference. The instructions are worth looking at because it lists more specifications, like the fixed emisssivity setting of 0.95, and accuracy above and below 100℃ at +/-2%. I don’t have any equipment to say if it is truly accurate, but it does agree with another IR thermometer I have, pretty close near 70℉ and right together at -4.0℉.PROS:- Laser with ring (to help aid in viewing reading area) I measured it as 1” at 12” distance- 12:1 distance to spot ratio- Back lit display- 9V battery includedCONS:- Prop 65 Warning (instructions say it is for exposure to phthalate, probably why the plastic housing feels soft). This could have been avoided if built with hard plasticsOverall not a bad thermometer, but discrepancy between the ad and what is received is disappointing (though what I received is exactly as pictured). Due to the phthalate used in the plastic I will probably keep this in my toolbox vs my kitchen. Still, it should be fun to see how cats react to the laser circle, which is what IR thermometers with lasers are used for mainly anyhow, right?

Great for traveling
This IR Thermostat is slightly smaller and much lighter than others I have used in the past, yet it works just as well. When compared to my NIST Certified thermometer it is reading about -0.5°F at 32°F and -1.0°F at 212°F. That is well within the expected margin of error and more then adequate for my applications. Because of how light weight this device is it is great for packing into a travel bag without worrying about the extra bulk.

Okay
I found this temp gun to be off by a few degrees. It is easy to use and has an affordable price but if you need a more precise accuracy I would look elsewhere.
