these are much better than noise makers
We have used these on over 50 dives. My husband and I are photographers and are usually not right next to each other. We have tried just about everything to get each other's attention, these are much better than noise makers, since you get a vibration and flashing LEDs, without disturbing critters and other divers. The attachment for the charger is a little fussy and I find I have to pair them pretty much before every dive, but both are easy to accomplish and the end product is worth it. We can get 2-3 1+ hour long dives on one charge easily (depending on how much you buzz your buddy). I highly recommend these.

Great when they work; but serious charging issues
The media could not be loaded. My dive buddy and I have used these on about 50 dives now and absolutely love them - when we're able to charge them. It seems the manufacturer is aware of the problem; thus the video they produced (attached here). I've been able to get my chargers to work by following the steps in the video, using a thick business card instead of the folded paper. It sometimes still takes a bit of jiggling. In reading various reviews and message board discussions about this product, I'm surprised by the number of people who think these were intended for use as an aid in locating your dive buddy. They aren't that at all. My dive buddy and I usually stay very close, but not always so close that we can reach out and touch each other. And we certainly don't spend all of our time on a dive making eye contact. So, when we just want to get the other's attention without banging on our tanks and disturbing the other divers around us, or without taking our eyes off that elusive juvenile filefish, we push the button. Suggesting that these are somehow a crutch for poor diving habits is wrong. There is no "find my buddy" functionality

So close yet....
These work well if you can see your buddy and just want to get their attention. Much better then flash lights. As two photographers it's great to shock your buddy when you find domyhing good. They are pretty useless (though not completely) for buddy seesperation. These desperately need (easy fix) to allow a long or otherwise differentiated button press to send 2 or 3 different signals. This would help buddies send a meet at surface type command to re group.Next gen, these desperately need to send depth and direction info. It's ultra sound, there is no reason direction can't be calculated, even distance loosely.Depth is key though. If you can get on the same plain in low vis or night you at least have a shot seeingblights etc.We dive Monterey/Carmel CA and is ranges from 5-50ft, some times on the same dive, but ussualy on the lower end. These are good but they could have been amazing, a dive changer. I hope they continue to advance. I hope they add a little more function with a firmware update.

bad news: they don't make 'em anymore
It's expensive for a buzzer, that's the only downside of this little device -- but then again, it's scuba gear, what'd you expect. Well, that, and I'd prefer a NATO-style strap, but that's fixable with a little needlework. It's moot anyway since they're no longer made: looks like DiveAlert bought them out and killed them.

Best thing ever
Best thing ever. Vibrates strong. Could never get a hold of my buddy. Even if to show something cool. I can do it now without annoying everyone with a loud horn.

Amazing! Never miss what you buddy saw again!!
I have used this twice now, and this is unbelievable! You know when you see something (like a giant black sea bass in my case) and your buddy is just out of arms reach and you don't want to chase them down? This is the answer. You will both see all the things you have been yelling about after the dive that the other person has missed! I have used it up to 30 feet away, and will test it farther out next time. Also used it during a navigation course when my buddy passed up a very difficult waypoint, but I had found it! Hit the button and she turned around to see what happened! This solves one of my biggest complaints since starting to dive: how to get in contact with your buddy when they are just out of arms reach. This is a very affordable solution. My only issue with it is that it's seems to charge awkwardly. Make sure it's charging correctly, it is not as simple as plugging it in, and can be a little finicky. First time I took it out and it was dead. I would definitely fix the way it charges on the next version if possible. The other issue is the band. It's Velcro and is susceptible to sliding down the arm or wrist. Make sure when you test it out of water they are right next to each other or they won't work.

Works well, but has charging issues.
They work well and do what they claim, but the charger design is flawed. One of the charger cables doesn't work at all and the other charger cable has to be wiggled around for quite a while before it will connect and even then sometimes it stops and starts again. So I have to "take turns" charging with the one good cable and I am worried that it might stop working also. It seems like the problem may be the design. While the charger cable uses a standard USB Micro, it has a slightly longer than standard plug in order to "reach" the partially recessed connector in the charger. I think this may have loosened up after a while or something or maybe the charger clamp, which is a cheap two part plastic piece, has separated somewhat after a time.

Keep the charging contacts clean
I just got them today. They seem to work well for my topside testing. There is a note in the box indicating to clean the charging contacts after every dive. I noticed many people indicated the charger design sucks. Maybe - however it seems that there is a maintenance cost to have this nice convenience tech tool.
