Great paper, but not for alcohol markers
With water-based fountain pen ink or, I suspect, water-based markers, there is zero bleed-through. You do get some ghosting, which is to be expected. However, an alcohol-based marker will blast right through the paper and onto one or two pages behind it.So... the paper is great for water-based media, but unsuitable for alcohol-based media.I still love the notebook, though. It's sturdy, nicely soft-cover bound, and the paper has a feel to it that is almost velvety without being textured or toothy.I do recommend this product, with the caveats as above.

Very nice pocket notebook
Great pocket-able notebook! The 68gsm Tomoe River paper doesn't feel as smooth as 52gsm but it still is able to show off sheening and shading pretty well.

Standard Excellence
Love the size of this - I have a hobonichi avec and needed a place for extra notes and collections. The paper is a slightly different color but same Tomoe River quality! Love this :)

Probably the best paper for fountain pens
I've tried all the major fine notebook & paper brands such as Leuchtterm, Clairfontaine, Moleskine. Tomoe River paper is probably the best I've found. But do look for this 68 GSM paper because some of their papers are incredibly thin like old airmail paper. But they all have the essential qualities you want for a fountain pen ink. Basically no bleed through, no feathering. Because this paper is extremely smooth the ink doesn't soak in so it can still take a while to dry, especially with broad or flexible nib wet writers. The cream color is just beautiful. The A6 size is sort of pocketable but a little bit on the wide side. (Compare to a pocket Moleskine in the photos.) One thing I don't like about this notebook is the corners are square edged so they feel sharp and will get ragged if you put them in and out of a pocket with any regularity. Black cover is very attractive but makes it pretty much impossible to write a label on the spine or the cover. The manila colored notebook in the photo is also a Tomoe River paper notebook larger that solves these issues, I wish they made it in a similarly small pocket size though. In that photo I actually cut the corners off the black notebook with a sharp exacto blade.

The paper weight on this is UNREAL (in a good way)!
I love Tomoe River Paper; however, I'm usually not a fan of how thin it is like bible paper. This notebook has "heavier" TRP in it and it is phenomenal. I feel like I can use virtually any writing/drawing tool on it with no bleed thru. Amazing.

Love this
I bought this specifically to swatch my fountain pen ink so it would show off all the beauty. I am very pleased with this notebook. I honestly don’t know why I waited so long to purchase this type of paper.

Beautiful paper and cover! One of the best for fountain pens.
My pens just glide along this paper, the 68gsm really is so different than anything else - having just tried the 52gsm in old tomoe river paper, I'm really not sure which I like more of the two! The only negative thing I have to say about this notebook, and I'm not even really sure that it's a negative, is that it really is quite a small notebook. I wasn't ready for how small it would be, it's more of like a small planner than something to journal in every day. But that might be just what you're looking for if you want to take it traveling or on the go; I just personally wasn't ready for how small it would be.

Great paper quality but the binding/cover are not ideal
Love the creamy white color of the paper and it’s very pleasant to write on with my fountain pens. No bleeding issues. There’s ghosting, and you can see on the back of the page what was written. If you cover the written page with another blank page, you can also see/read what’s written easily because the paper is very thin. Depending where you are in the notepad, the binding makes it a bit difficult to write near the center (especially with a fountain pen) because it can have a slight curve there. Not a huge problem, but a binding where each page can be laid out completely flat is what I would expect at this price point. Moleskin for example, just works. But the paper is not as pleasantly smooth to write on, compared to this one. Also, Moleskin can bleed through with some fountain pens. But the construction of their notepads feels premium. The cover of this notebook is very thin, so you can’t use it for sketching or even writing easily if you hold the notebook in your hands. A hard cover would have been a better choice. I might try Leuchtturm next, or some other brand with hard cover. Or maybe order an A6 cover and see how that goes.

No longer the paper wizards
I know that there *was* a tradition of amazing paper from Tomoe River. But sadly, it not longer exists I feel. Paper in the notebooks by Midori are far superior to this paper is ever way and with its use of multiple pen types. The cover is likely the only clear strength of this book now.
