Q: Are the conductors solid copper?

They are copper wires and standard anderson connectors, i don't know if they're solid copper. I use this extention pretty much everyday for the last 4 yrs between my panels and solar generator, no problems so far.

Q: Do these come pre installed side to side (not up and down) or do I need tools to make the connector ends?

They come installed with a boot, BUT the arrangement is wrong. They do not put the pin in place that secures the connector so you will need to pull the boot back then there is enough wire length to allow you to slide the connectors apart and then reassemble. Just check them against the connectors you plan to use them with to make sure red-red. If you have never played with the Anderson PowerPole then you should look up one of the YouTube videos to help you understand what the steps are.

Q: Are they compatible with Rockpals?

Yes the 120watt am not sure about any other size hope this help
