Digitizing 35mm Slides Is A Breeze
I bought this specifically to digitize 35mm Kodachrome slides. I can't be happier with the results! I paired it with the JJC Converter (also bought here on Amazon) and didn't need to use any extension tubes. While it is manual focus, it makes copying them so much faster and cleaner than using a dedicated scanner. I have a few thousand to copy. If my opinion changes, I will update here.

Fantastic beginner macro lens
The Ttartisans 40mm is a great Macro lens for anyone wishing to dip their toes into the Hobby.Build:The Lens features an all metal construction and actually has some heft to it. The focus ring has a stiff but very smooth turn with a long focus throw. The Aperture ring feels extremely nice and has clicks every half stop going from F2.8 to F16. When focusing down to closer objects the front does protrude quite far as this lens does have external focusing.Image Quality:Image quality is solid for the price, with excellent sharpness even at f2.8. The one caveat I found is that the lens can exhibit internal reflections when strong light enters from certain oncoming angles, this usually shows up as a washed out orange ring on the outer-portion of the image. The bokeh of this lens is also very smooth and specular highlights always appear nice and round due to the diaphragm design.macro capability:The lens is capable of 1:1 reproduction meaning when the lens is at its minimum focusing distance, subjects are represented at their true size onto the image sensor.Overall:This is a solid macro lens capable of good image quality with true macro capability.

Decent manual lens for hobby macro at excellant low price. Manual Focus, manual aperture ring on lens, no ibis. With good light source, this MF lens gives acceptable performance.

Good for Macro photography
Excellent material and craftsmanship. It's a manual focus lens with aperture ring.

Look at these pictures. Of a tiny tiny tiny ant. Not a big ant. Not a bee. A TINY ant.
This is in the first 15 minutes after unboxing it. Unreal. Look at the foot pressing against the surface tension of the droplet in the blurry picture.

An impressive lens for the price!
The build quality of this lens is excellent. The mostly metal construction makes it quite hefty. Do keep in mind this is a manual focus lens. There are no electrical contacts for the lens to communicate to the camera body. Focus and aperture is physically controlled on the lens. Of course for a macro lens it being manual focus isn't really a drawback as you should always be manually focusing when shooting macro. The barrel of the lens does extend out as you focus which isn't uncommon for macro lenses. The lens cap is metal and is a screw on cap. Images are very sharp and the colors as consistent. Optically I don't have a lot of complaints especially considering how cheap this lens is.This would be a great lens to pair with the new Canon R7 and R10, Canon's new APSC RF camera bodies. I am currently using this lens with my R10 and again I have no complaints! One of the biggest drawback sto Canon's new RF camera line is the expensive of most RF lenses. Plus there are only a few RF-S (RF APSC) lenses on the market at the time of this review. For the price I feel this lens is a no brainer. Just a great macro lens for this system.

Not worth the truly abyssmal customer service.
The rear lens cap was so warped that it could not be removed without cutting it off. When I initially asked the company, which only has email customer service out of China, they suggested that I try rotating it in the opposite direction. Imagine my delight. Well, I needed a macro that day and ended up cutting the cap off, and even after two-thirds of it were off I had to pry the rest off. The lens itself is nice but the experience was a lot less than pleasurable.
