Used this to connect my XBox Series X to my vintage receiver. Good product...I'm totally satisfied.

Works as advertised.Nicely designed Volume Control - operation is very smooth with a bit of resistance. V Control will not accidently move when unit is moved or handled.

This device works as advertised, in that it does pull the audio from an HDMI signal, and convert it into analog audio through RCA jacks, which is how I'm using it. However, the level of noise coming from the device when there's no input audio signal is frankly impressive, plus it occasionally drops audio when the levels go too low. Think of the hissing noise from a cheap LP after all the tracks have played, but before you pull the stylus off the record, except it's very digital sounding.It's just cheaply made, and although it works, I'm looking for an alternative that doesn't sound like I've left a radio tuned to static in the background.Update: Tried playing discs with 5.1 and 7.1 audio tracks on them, and it's routing rear speaker signals to the two outputs. Any 5.1 or 7.1 (or presumably anything more complicated than 2 channel audio) signal renders this thing absolutely useless. While it is amusing to watch movies with zero dialogue and occasional sound effects for a minute or two, it gets old quickly. This is a surprising limitation, but drops it from 3 stars to 1 for me.

Well I had my first one for almost two years but alas, I spilled a little coffee and it got damp. I was sure it was gonna be alright, but it wasn’t. However during its tenure on my desk it did work very well linking my monitor to my computer, Xbox, and soundbar together flawlessly. It would even allow for auto switching between them and auto wake up on the screen. So I replaced it with a second one. It’s got what I want. Picture quality seems pretty sharp as well. Definitely close to 4k if it’s not true 4k.

The adapter was not compatible with our TV. I was hoping to use the optical output on the TV to get an analog signal to our 1976 vintage Sansui stereo through the adapter but it's optical jack is for output only. Didn't work as hoped.

This device works very well at diverting audio to an amplifier or powered speaker. The sound quality is excellent. The 2-channel and 5.1-channel options are welcome, especially in a product at this price point.There is, however, a slight but noticeable lag between the signal following the HDMI path and the one going through RCA or optical connections. I do not have a precise measurement, but it sounds like something in the 10- to 50- millisecond range. It may not be enough to impact viewing experience when this is feeding the only audio source, but when both audio stack and TV speakers are both active it is quite noticeable.I would recommend this adapter for a home theater environment, even a 2.1, where TV speakers are not part of the active setup.

I do Karaoke professionally and needed something that could split out the audio from the HDMI coming out of my iPad. I hesitantly bought this because of all the "not great" reviews. I figured I'd return it if it was problematic or intermittent. BUT I have to say after using it for several months, it REALLY WORKS GREAT and exactly as advertised. It's solid, no dropouts, super convenient and VERY easy to use. If you need to split out the audio from an HDMI cable, you need to check out this HDMI Audio Extractor. If it doesn't work for you, than your're doing something wrong with your signal flow.

I was not able to get sound output from this device in any configuration. In a direct pass-through configuration between my FireTV 4K Max Stick and my Onkyo AV receiver, running at HD 1080p resolution, the audio would cut out for a second or so every minute or so. That was very annoying and makes this device unusable in that configuration..However, I bought this device to get audio to my headphones. We use headphones a lot to watch TV and not bother others, The 3.5mm output from my TV was connected directly to the headphones transmitter. That worked fine for a long time but stopped working recently. I diagnosed this to the 3.5mm audio output from the TV stopped working. Not problem, I switched to using the TosLink optical cable from my TV to the headphones transmitter, but that is not functional either. Other than that, my AV receiver and TV work fine in all other wasy. My only other option for these headphones is to get audio from HDMI, so I bought this device.When inserted into the HDMI ARC cable path from the AV receiver to the TV, the video is fine, but there is no audio from this device. Audio from both the TV and AV receiver works fine I tested this with other audio devices that are know to work and get no audio from them, either. So either the audio output from this device is defective completely (as I suspect due to the FiireTV test, above), our this device does not handle ARC. ARC is an HDMI spec, short for Audio Return Channel. The AV receiver sends video and audio from FireTV to the TV, and the TV returns the audio over the same cable back the the AV receiver for driving the speakers. It's a 5.1 Ch setup, but I tried this device in all three configurations (via a switch on the back of it). It did not work in Pass-through, 2 Ch, or 5.1 Ch modes. I was never able to get audio from the device's 3.5mm, optical, or headphones outputs in any configuration.I am an electrical engineer and understand how these devices all work quite well. I diagnosed everything using alternate equipment to isolate the failure to the correct device. I read similar experiences in these reviews before I bought this. I guess they were right. Obviously, there are some configurations of equipment for which this device works, but mine is not one of them. I hope I gave enough details to help you make your decision.
