Q: Is it so small that a 1 year old would grow out of it in a few months?

I don't believe so. I have a grand-daughter that just turned 1. Just her tippy toes touch the ground at the moment so she can not yet scoot herself. Maybe in the next couple of months she will be able to which means by the time she is 1 1/2 she will just be learning to ride it herself. By next summer she will be up and down the driveway all by herself!
