I had to have my beautiful live edge wood table completely redinished from using cheap place mats. Those thin cheesy mats do not isolate heat at all. I served my family some hot homemade soup in glass bowls that sat on top of fabric placemats. After dinner when cleaning the table I removed the place mats to see that the hot bowls had destroyed the finish all over my table. I tried several products\chemicals to fix the damage, but nothing worked. I ended up paying a company to come out and strip it, sand it and apply a new finish. None of that was cheap so I wanted to make sure it never happened again. These place mats are the perfect solution. They are thick sturdy cork that blocks the heat. They are also a pretty standard size for place mats so it is easy to place different thin mats on top of them for added style.

I bought these to help absorb sound in our dining room. We have a metal table, wood floors and loud kids 😆. They help and look cute. My only slight complaint is that they’re turned up somewhat on the edges.

We recently replaced an old dining table with a brand new, custom made modern Amish cherrywood set. I already have a nice placemats but wanted a separate cork design placemats for the serving dishes. The size of this set is like the placemats, not smaller, and that's perfect for the hot dishes that we serve food in. Our new set is quite expensive - not to boast for only for the purpose of endorsing this product - and we don't want accidents of spills, not enough thickness to protect the table. Very pleased with these cork placemats.

Unless you're careful the mats will crack in half, edges break off. The binding of the cork pieces is weak.

The look nice, but unfortunately don't really work for their intended purpose. They lose little pieces of cork constantly, and they are too prone to fraying and breaking if you just pick them up wrong. Higher quality, more flexible and resistant, cork would be needed to make a viable placemat.

Could have been a little bigger.Expensive.No vinyl or plastic coating making it harder to clean.
