Useful but limited range of devices for original hub
Internally, this appears to be based on the eQ-3 (Homematic IP) equivalent product though the systems are not currently compatible - I did try. They are easy to setup but need to be deconfigured if the controller is factory defaulted. My setup was simply linking it to a couple of Universal switches though the app lacks a lot of features for my needs. A fair number of controller updates have been pushed out over the last year so there is hope the system will improve over time. I moved on from LightwaveRF but they may still be a viable option with their updated product range and the app was more feature rich, at least with the original range of devices I had.

Avoid
Rubbish.People new to the Bosch smart home product family may miss a subtle but important detail which is badly communicated on Amazon or in more widely. These plugs, which look nicer than the compact versions, are not compatible with Hub II. It says it now but not sure if always, or that it gets assimilated by all customers. Some smug know-it-alls might disagree, but they probably don’t know anything about others things.I cannot find the old Hubs so bought Hub II and this prettier plug. It fails to connect then says need a usb funk stick. Nightmare (impossible) to find the usb stick online then eventually found a form which asks for MAC details of ‘old’ hub. Odd, like only existing plugs can acquire a funk stick. Old and new Hub systems use different wifi zigsbee communication systems or such. I found subsequently (it never crossed my mind that a smart system would be made so incompatible or complicated) a diagram on the Bosch website showing the partial overlap between systems. An epic failing by Bosch in my view.Bosch will likely say old hub owners can buy these pretty plugs still but it seems to me they’re happy to confuse punters and shift remaining old stock. Why sell the old plugs but not the Hub I? Why put old/new compact on same page so as to mix the product lines? Why have sub-options on Amazon pages (like you normally would for different colour of same product) which are major incompatible product line differences ?The combination of nonsense Bosch website single sign ID, big brother cloud, app fest, incompatibility between old and new… it kind of stinks of some revolting shiny-suited MBA fool looking to make a buck and shift “units”.The old and new systems shouldn’t even have the same/similar Smart Home line name let alone be mixed by Bosch and/or Amazon, and it is clear that mixing the old/new is not easy or possible.

No complaints except price
I love Bosch's smart home system, it's by far the most reliable, intuitive and best thought-out system I've come across. These plugs are no exception, fully integratable with other parts such as thermostats and motion sensors, as well as having their own raft ofsettings/options. The only downside is price, but you can usually find special offers popping up pretty regularly.

Requires the purchase of Bosch controller to work.
This alarm is a great idea but you have to buy the Bosch controller for it to work, which was not made clear at time of purchase. We purchased this item to use in conjunction with our washing machine. Again what is not made clear on the web page is that it has to be laid flat and there is no room for this to happen behind my stacked washer/dryer. So we have installed it under the kitchen sink.

Energy monitoring is useless and constantly losing connection
I purchased 3 of these plugs to replace some older energy monitoring plugs and the bosch ones are not accurate and don't give proper real-time usage of energy being used. The plug even though it's 2 metres from the controller constantly losses connection.Waste of money especially as you're also forced to buy the controller as well.
