Still going strong....
Pleasantly surprised how well this Aeropress control valve works. I like my coffee strong. I usually make espressos with a manual Flair espresso machine to get a true espresso pour. Let's not fool ourselves, an Aeropress cannot make a legitimate espresso, but it does make such a strong coffee that is a viable alternative when I don't want to go to the trouble and time involved in using my Flair.I have also been pleasantly surprised by the durability of this control valve. I've been using it almost daily for four months to make a double espresso-sized pour without a problem even though I am doing things that in all probability are pushing it to the limit pressure-wise .

This perfects what I thought was perfection…
I am a retired almost full time RVing photographer and fly fisherman. I have used an AeroPress ever morning for twelve years. Until I purchased this I thought it not possible to improve on perfection. This holds water for a pre bloom. It holds water for a good brew until you decide to plunge. No coffee escape around the edge when plunging. When you complete your plunge it provides a much better froth. Plunging also takes less isometric effort. Buy it, you will like it!

THIS is it!!!!
I cannot believe what a difference this makes!!! I am a devotee now. It’s really close to espresso. In fact I like the rich/mellow ratio even better than what I get with my espresso maker. A fraction of the bitterness and the Lion’s share of espresso richness. Hooked.

If you have an Aeropress, this is a MUST
I got an Aeropress for Christmas. For two months prior to receiving my gift, I did A LOT of research on them as well as all of the after market accessories (including this cap). One of the few complaints I saw referred to the cap that the company sends on all Aeropress units. The complaints were all about how water (it’s not really coffee as it’s so weak!) came out quickly. Seeing that the cost of this after market cap was almost as much as the Aeropress, I had no intention of purchasing it.My first coffee made thru the Aeropress didn’t work out as I had hoped. But I expected it, as the reviews had warned me that that original cap would leak coffee out. And boy did it leak coffee out (I tried using course grounds ((not recommended)) as well as medium-fine grinds ((recommended)) both with the same results). Half of the water I put in, came right out thru the cap, as I was pouring the water in.Still not convinced I wanted to spend $25 on this cap, my next attempt was inversion. Thankfully, I did it over the sink as the plunger popped out & the water & grinds went all over (clearly I didn’t push the plunger down far enough to prevent this mess!).I gave in. I bought this cap. TOTAL game changer! Not one drop dripped out of this cap until I pressed the plunger down. This cap is worth every dollar. Why 4 stars? Because this cap should come stock, with every Aeropress. The original cap is totally useless as so many of the reviews confirm. It feels dishonest that the company sells a great product with a defective piece, forcing consumers to purchase an expensive fix. Shame on you Aeropress. That said, the Aeropress is my go-to for my morning coffee, only because I have this cap!! My coffee is better than the French Press I had been using. The cap is a must. Bite the bullet & get it. You won’t regret it.

A great replacement!
Before I purchased this device to control the flow of liquid through the AeroPress, I used the "inverted" method to maximize contact between the hot water and ground coffee before pushing the brewed liquid through the press. This flow control device makes it MUCH easier - and safer - to control the flow and, in my opinion, enhances the flavor quality of the coffee. If this device were standard issue with the AeroPress I'm sure it would be welcomed by everyone. I hope AeroPress considers making a similar device sized to fit their XL press. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Wished I had purchased this sooner.
Great product. Doesn't leak and let's the coffee steep in the hot water until downforce pressure is applied.
