Worth the money!
The price you pay, and the quality you get IMHO is worth every penny!Out of the box it will work but not great. Yes you will have to sharpen the blade first to make it work just as good as the expensive high dollar tools.. if you're looking for ready to go out the box, I don't want to do any work to improve my tool kind of person... Then you are looking at the wrong price range... Some people might give it a bad review because they're looking for Quality tools at flea market prices lol! "BUT" If you're a person that doesn't mind working on and improving your tools to make it function just as good as the hi dollar tools... This is well worth the money IMHO! Hope this helps...

Spokeshaves have different blades
Spokeshaves are fine, nothing special. They have different blades widths, so they are not interchangeable with each other, but 🤷♂️. Now that little dinky plane? Bwahahahaha! It is made of wood so soft that you can damage it with a fingernail. For giggles I did replace the sole of the plane and sharpened the blade.. it actually works if you rebuild it all. It’s only for breaking edges.

These are a great value and made as well as any similar items.
Comes with extra blades and the extras are well worth it. Great value!

Decent value for the money.
This product is nothing special, but it's still worth buying If you are getting in to hand tool woodwork. The spokeshave, as a tool, is very enjoyable to use, and I am fine with these two for now.You get the two spoke shaves which are great to experiment with and should not be expected to be of "top quality" (I'm pretty sure these were less than $15 when I bought it so to be honest, I didn't expect much) If you like using the product maybe look in to a "nicer tool". I personally have not done so yet. The blade is not necessarily the greatest quality, but if you keep it honed, it works. And it works for not a lot of money. The plane I have not used much. I tried a few times, but overall had no use for fooling with it. It was difficult to set the blade, and the blade itself was nothing to write home about. I use the plane blade to scrape at times.

Not for the beginner, many modifications necessary.
The spokeshaves need to have the paint removed from the base and sanded/filed flat. The blades had a decent edge on them, but I honed them down to a near mirror finish and razor edge. The adjusting screws on both were very sloppy and loose causing the blade to move around, but can be fixed using some Locktite on the threads. The cap iron needed to have the edge contacting the blade sanded flat to get good hold. Once all these modifications were made, the spokeshaves worked reasonably well. The small plane was pretty decent but the wooden blade lock wedge needed to have the edge nearest the blade edge sanded to a sharp wedge shape as the chips clogged the throat due to not sliding up the wedge. I also honed the blade edge to a razor sharpness. As far as this set goes, if you don't mind spending some time to make these modifications, this was a pretty good deal. I don't mind seeing how well I can get these cheap tools to work but you do need patience or you will be highly disappointed with this product.
