Quick and easy setup
Working nicely thus far, very simple setup.I saw some reviews of folks trying to run a fridge motor with this - probably too much load so the relay will stick ON, so don't do that. Keep loads 5 amps or less and it should be OK, even though rating says 10 amps.Mine does not lose settings with a power cycle. So perhaps there was a batch of them with the lose-settings problem out there. I have 3 of these - all work w/o losing settings on power cycle. There is a differential setting. If you want tighter control, set it to 1 deg. 2 deg is generally fine as well for reptiles. Depends on the application. But don't blame the controller for the setting. It does what you tell it to do.For $18 you cannot expect industrial-strength thermal control. This is a general purpose ON-OFF thermostat for small loads like heat mats or similar, not for A/C or freezers or 1500 Watt heaters, etc. Use it for what it is intended for and you should be good. Amazon has many others that will work for freezers and such.

Works great for chicken coops
Purchased this to operate my exhaust fan in my large chicken coop. Easy to program and operate.Perfect for keeping the heat out of the coop, I did hang the thermostat probe from the ceiling and not in the loft as it is much cooler in the main building as compared to the loft and I don't need the loft cool, just the coop. The digital numbers are easy to read from a distance and compared to the thermometer I have in the coop, it's within 1° of accuracy.

good value for controller that can be used to heat or cool
works great, has led to signal when sockets are active. Used to control heat mat under seedlings for early start in spring, will use cooling function to run exhaust fan in garage when summer heats it up! Great dual function for not much more than the ones that just allow heat up.

Poor programming instructions
Could not program the unit as per instructions, received 2nd unit and it would not program like the instructions said, sent both units back and bought another brand.

Not overly pleased.Rather complicated.
I got this for how easy the video & reviews claimed this thermostat to be. I programmed it per instructions and didn’t work. My husband did and still didn’t maintain programmed temp. He had to contact customer service for the manufacturer. The piece that’s advertised for hot and cooling - you can only use “either” a heat device OR a fan to plug into it. Not both. If you are wanting heat and cool to maintain, you need to get the other thermostat that has functionality of accepting two plugs into it versus this one which supports one OR the other. Fortunately it’s for my snake tank and heat is needed to maintain temp and cooling I don’t need. It’s not as easy to program as video and summary says. It works ok once it was all figured out but still makes me a little uneasy. But it does the gist of its purpose and that is keeping the low and high means within range. If it drops or exceeds max temp, an alarm does sound until you hit the button.

Better than others I've tried
The biggest drawback of this is that it doesn't hold the programming during an extended power outage. It's not as bad as others have mentioned, it will hold the memory if I unplug it for a minute. But somewhere between a minute and an hour, it loses it.EDIT: After my unit was on for a day, it now holds the memory for at least 10 hours. I didn't test it any longer. I like it, enough to change it from 4 stars to 5 stars.I have it hooked up to a fan that is over a ventless propane heater in my little shop, so shortly after the heat kicks on, the fan turns on to push the hot air down and out. So even though it's doing it's job with my heat, it's on the "cool" mode. (the fan gets hot and then it turns on to cool it).I almost forgot its GREAT feature of having as low as a .5° temperature differential. That makes it turn on and off faster than a similar setup using a mechanical HVAC temp switch in a different building. If it keeps working well for me, I'll be buying another one to replace the mechanical one.If it's still working after the warranty runs out (probably not worth the hassle for something of this price), I'll open it up to see if I can add a battery back up to it. That shouldn't be too difficult using a diode and a few AA batteries (maybe A batteries?)

Easy to set up, I like the display
Since I have not set it up for my seed planting yet, I did turn it on to make sure it came on and checked the temperature probe. The heat adjustment was very easy, I hope it will work and last for a number of seasons.

Works great!
I’m happy with it. I use it on one of my incubators and it’s already hatched a few hundred chicks. I’ve had No issues with it as of now. Very easy to program as well.

Good but fluctuates a lot
If you’re looking for a super precise thermostat that doesn’t fluctuate much at all, this isn’t that. But if you have a range of acceptable temperatures then this thermostat will do a great job for you! I have mine set to 90F for my leopard gecko, it gets as low as 87 or 88 before it’ll start heating, and up to around 93 before turning off again. So just be mindful of what range of temps you need and if this kind of fluctuation is okay for your needs. Overall, a pretty good product and I’ve already bought another for another animal.

great for seedlings
I got this thermostat controller for seedling germination. I found the unit incredibly simple to set up right out of the box and has worked very well so far.My only recommendation is that there is only one outlet on the unit with an advertised 1200w limit, which is fine for now as it is only controlling one small 14w heating mat for 72 seedlings tray but if I want to scale up and add another tray I would need an extension cord or an entirely different unit

So far so good
This review is for the LUXBIRD Digital Heat Mat Thermostat Controller. I picked this up as I'm getting into hydroponics and I wanted a controller for my heating mat on my propagation table where I grow seedlings. This only has one outlet, so if you have multiple heating mats, you'll need to look elsewhere, but for a single mat to keep seedlings warm, this works well. For the price point, I don't expect high precision, and time will tell how my seedlings fare, but this seems to do a good job at keeping them at a reasonably even temperature. There is a built-in temperature probe that seems to be fairly responsive. When dealing with mains-powered devices, I would prefer to pay more and get a UL-listed device. The box lists CE, RoHS, and FCC marks, but no UL or MET marks, unfortunately.Overall, though, this is an inexpensive way to keep your heating mat at a reasonably even temperature and should be great for seedling propagation. What's in the Box□ Temperature controller□ User manualThings I Like✓ Easy to use✓ Seems to keep my heating mat at a reasonably even temperature✓ CE, RoHS, and FCC marks (though no FCC ID is listed)Areas for Improvement✗ Only one outlet✗ No UL certification
