Helps with Lighting in the Cab
This review is for the for, “88-98 Silverado LED Interior Map Dome Light Bulbs White LED for 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 Chevy Silverado GMC Sierra C1500 K1500 Pickup, 2 Map & 1 Dome LED Lights”.They do fit and work in a Chevy pickup of that era. They are brighter but I’d estimate 50% to 100% brighter than the old filament bulbs that were in the truck and not the claimed 300% brighter. You’ll notice in the before and after pics that you can see more detail of the back seat in the after picture. They look well enough made. If I was sending a space shuttle up, I’d question some of the soldering, but this literally ain’t rocket science. The install is the same as with regular bulbs other than the map lights have a curved contact rather than a flat contact. This makes the install a bit more slippery. I dropped an LED half a dozen times before I opted to take the light assembly down - two screws - totally worth it. A1 Auto has a YT video on this if you want to try the slippery way. The LED map lights are polarity sensitive. If you install one of these and it doesn’t turn on, reverse it.I don’t know if I’d buy these and install them again but other than the 300% claim (which without a lumen meter is subjective), they do what they say they’ll do. Recommended.

Easy install
Easy to replace incandescent bulbs. Nice white light to brighten cab. Would be nice if they were a little brighter for my use.

Nice set for the price, maybe 50-100 percent brighter?
CAUTION: Halogen bulbs get hot fast. How hot? Hot enough to severely burn you in an instant. Do NOT attempt to remove the old bulbs until they have had plenty of time to cool. I'm not big on stupid caution warnings, this is not a stupid warning. These are not like incandescent bulbs where you just say owwy and forget about it 3 minutes later. Did I burn myself on them? No. Have I gotten burned by halogen bulbs before? Oh yeah, but never again if I can help it. With that out of the way, on to the review.I do like this set, and would give it a 7 out of 10. Am I disappointed? Unfortunately, yes. Thus the 3 star rating. If my expectations had not been inflated by claims of being 300 percent brighter, maybe I would have been pleased with a 50-100 percent increase. But the stock interior lights in these trucks in my opinion are very anemic. It would take a 300 percent increase for me to be completely happy with them and that's what was promised. I don't understand why GM did not design the map lights to come on at the same time when you open the door, then maybe it would have been passable. That said, I might add some diodes to make that a reality. But if you think 50-100 percent increase is all you need, then consider this a 5 star review. In one of my pictures you can see the new main bulb in comparison to the old map bulb. As well as views from the doorway with old main light vs new. My phone made all these lights look a bit brighter than they actually are.THE GOOD:These look well constructed which, frankly is a pleasant surprise50-100 percent brightness increase over a power hungry, glowing hot halogen is substantialCooler light is more effective lightFairly easy to install and comes with handy little pry tool I'll be keeping for other projectsUse far less energy so you can leave them on a long time without having to worry about battery dischargeThey don't get blistering hotTHE BAD:No way these are 300 percent brighter as impliedCooler light can be harsher on the eyes, especially when transitioning from low or no light. That said, the stock bulbs put out light that was way too orange looking.MORE ON INSTALLATION - These are fairly easy to install. A handy person like me would say very easy, despite me dropped the new map bulbs 3 times. It's not "screwing in a light bulb" level of easy, and I ended up incorporating some gentle use of needle nose pliers since my fat fingers don't fit up in there where the bulbs go. Just be sure to look at how those map bulbs are held in there with tension before you go pulling them out. Their contacts pull apart instead of pushing inward, like one might expect. It's easy to bend them out of shape so they no longer have enough tension. In that case take the bulb back out and spread the contacts back apart and try once more.
