Purrfect for checking cat's pulse and oxygen-levels!!
This oxymeter has been a life-saver for my cat;. It alerted me of his lowish-oxygen levels from anemia.Since then, after making some nutritional interventions, it charted his progress to normal oxygen levels,.It is also helpful in monitoring blood pressure via the beats per minute feature, (over 200 bpm icorrelates with indications of hypertension). That too is a useful lifesaver tool.Once you figure which ear yields the most responsive pulse, it is rather easy to place in to do its measurements. You could try it on the tail, but that works better if you have a short-haired cat (Mine ns medium-haired). I wanted to procure a blood pressure monitior that uses the tail (like one i saw at my vet office) but this oxymeter is good enough. My 18-year old cat was a bit averse with having the device at the base of his ears at first, but he's now used to it and dozes off during the measurements.I like that it can use batteries, and it also provides a USB charge connection. It better than other oxymeters that require you to place the pulse meter on the pet's tongue (a definite no-no for a cat). The manual gives more detailed information on personal settings .Its digital colors aren't taxing to the eyes.Again, a valuable life-saving tool!

It's absolutely awful and DANGEROUS!!!
My dog is in renal failure. I purchased this so that I could get a few hours of sleep while monitoring his O2 and his PR. My dog just had a full body ultrasound and was completely shaven. I rarely can get the thing to obtain a reading. The ear NEVER works. The area where he is shaven at times works but the readings are not correct. I have a vet blood pressure unit and it shows that his PR is 103. I use my stethoscope and count for a full minute (not 15 seconds not 30 seconds and times it by 4 or 2, but a full sixty seconds) and I also get 102 (close enough to 103) this unit shows his PR as 39. The sensor NEVER stays on. The pup barely moves and it falls off. Not worth the 170 bucks. It's not worth twenty bucks due to the false readings. It's dangerous and should be removed and not sold! I'm going to upload a video showing all this shortly.

Charging stand sold separately!
This product works great. If you want to charge product in a stand, you need to purchase stand separate. I was not thrilled to have to purchase stand separately, but I found a charging stand and it was delivered within a week of my Amazon purchase.

Deception !!!
The device is hard to learn how to use it correctly. When you can use it correctly it's a good product for checking your pet health live only. After few days, I started having some problem with it. It was impossible to shut it down without removing the batteries. The reading where also jam and stay the same until removing and put back the batteries. I tried to download the activities and found out that I need a special application and that this application is only available to veterinarian. I decided to send the Oximeter back. My dog is having a pulmonary hypertension for life and I need a reliable device and I also need to have the history. It's impossible with this device.

It works if it’s used correctly
If your animal is pigmented ( dark skinned under the fur)use the tongue or vagina for an accurate reading. I got this machine my dog was having fainting spells several days a week. I used this to show her oxygen levels durning an episode. It saved my dogs life. It turns out she was on way to many high blood pressure meds and it caused her blood pressure to drop.

Takes a little time to read
The product does work however, it does take quite a bit of time to read. With a puppy that’s moving it is a little bit difficult to get a reading with it taking as long as it does. It took almost 30 seconds.

Does not read accurately
I have a dog that has collapsing trachea. It is conditioned to where her oxygen levels are very important. I measure them every day. This product is horrible because it never has an accurate reading. In the first few months that had this product there were a handful of trips to the vet to make sure her oxygen was not at 85 like this product said. We would get to the vet and use their much better quality oxygen meter my dogs oxygen would be OK like at 95.
