Attractively presented approach to a beloved classic
Each page has one column, reading top to bottom, in English; a second column on that page is in Deutsch - German. 122 pages, good type and font, very white sturdy paper to withstand steady use. The translation is good and clear. It is inherently humorous and it seems to me it would be a great way to introduce new students to German literature casually, to branch out from the dry vocabulary, etc. It is fascinating to see how idioms, etc. correspond or change in the two languages. I love "Alice in Wonderland" and keep this book by my bed instead of the one-language book, thus sometimes adding in the German, sometimes not, depending upon my mood. It has been many many years since I finished my languages major, and this book is a good, fun way to brush up.

Helpful
I read the book in English and that helps before reading it in German. And reading it in German helps me improve my German.I read reviews by Germans in which they found the book in English is helpful to them in improving their English.Yet, some English speakers (an American and Aussie) said they want a book where the German is up-to-date, more hip and modern-meaning simple everyday German.I laughed as I grew up reading a lot of classic British literature, so I am ahead of simple English and can read 'big words'. I want to learn a few big words in German. This helps.

Wonderful Story in Two Languages
I am really enjoying reading Alice in Wonderland in English and German. The translation into German is perfect, and I am able to increase my vocabulary by reading an English page first and then the same page in German. I had not read this book in many years and forgot how interesting it is. My only issue, which will not affect my rating, is that the print is rather small. Older people such as myself love to read, and the older we get, the smaller the print is becoming. I have ordered several books from Amazon in "Grossdruck" (large print), and it makes reading so much more enjoyable.

Very effective format
This format of side-by-side translation is very effective for the language student trying to improve fluency. Any unknown words can be learned immediately, without stopping to look them up in a dictionary. Makes the learning faster and more fun.

This is a fabulous book and an excellent way to learn German
This is a fabulous book and an excellent way to learn German. However, the free sample had text in parallel columns as stated in the blurb above - but when I downloaded the full version, the text was no longer in columns. I cannot find any setting to change the layout. If this is possible, the instructions should be stated in the blurb, or else the layout of the free sample should be changed to match the rest of the book.

Good practice.
Good bi-lingual edition. I especially like die Grinze-Katze.

Lovely but
Lovely little book but it's not basic English to start with, so not the greatest material to learn German. It's going to stay on the side until I'm more advanced.

Not the best translation, but it's better than nothing.
Certain passages are completely different from the real translation. Example: "four thousand miles, I think" was translated to "achthundert und funfzig Meilen, glaube ich" ("eight hundred and fifty miles, I think"). But hey, at least my rusty German was good enough to notice the problem, right?Whatever, it wasn't that expensive and it's helping me remember a lot of vocab I had forgotten. The side-by-side translation helps you to gain vocab without having to constantly flip to a wordlist or reach for a dictionary. And it's much more interesting than those 'Cafe im Berlin' kindle books about students going to the beach.
