Worst purchase ever.
It takes 10 seconds from power-on until you get to start recording...then, it takes 5 seconds to start recording after pressing the record button. You press the "play" triangle to pause recording, and again to resume recording, and Stop to save or delete. The menu button does nothing, until you select, and start playing a recording. Then you can delete, or delete all, BUT, if you dont delete it, it continues to repeat play, until you power the unit off.

Functional but confusing
The recorder works as I need it to but the user interface is confusing. The manual doesn't describe how to get to settings so I had to randomly push buttons until I found the right one. It takes several seconds to start up before I can record. I expect that if I don't use it for awhile I will have to relearn the sequence to delete a recording and other multi-step operations. Finally, the volume is too low and it can easily be raised but that setting isn't remembered the next time I restart the recorder (which is why I only gave that feature 3 stars). I haven't used it long enough for the battery to run down so I don't know how I would rate it.

The clarity is amazing with an optional ext. mic
Easy to use, tons of storage and features for the price very impressive. As it states, the built-in mic does not do justice so opting for an external mic is the best bet for better quality however the built-in mic is fine for general usage. I adjusted the gain and happy with results.

Not worth the trouble
I purchased this device hoping to connect it to my audio mixer to record my podcasts as a backup for the computer recording, in the event of a software problem. I am familiar with recording equipment and all that this entails. This device is a major pain in the neck and I would not recommend it for an audio professional, much less somebody who just needs a device to work.On the upside, if you just want to place the device in a room and let it record the ambient sound, it will do this. It is also pretty cheap, lightweight, and attractive looking. Those are the limits of its benefits. The navigation is extremely cumbersome, and the instructions are written in broken English, which they make up for by saying very little.Even turning the gain down to 1, the audio levels come in too hot for the line in. I needed an in line hardware device to reduce the audio levels suitably. This is suboptimal and adds to the cost of the device. Switching the "record from" setting from Line in to Mic in does not actually change the nature of the input port, it just ignores the line and records from the microphone of the device. There is no "Mic In" setting, contra the instructions.I can find no way to stop the playback of recordings without turning the device off. I have been trying to do this for an hour. If a way exists to do this, it is very difficult to find, and I am not going to spend another hour trying to figure out why the stop button doesn't perform the function a stop button should perform. We had this figured out long before I was born 43 years ago, and if the maker of this device cannot figure out that the stop button should stop the playback, then they should not be making audio equipment. Before initiating my return, I decided to visit the manufacturer's website to see if perhaps there was a firmware update that might fix these problems. It seemed odd that a company would not be so embarrassed by the poor function of this device that they would not make some urgent effort to notify customers that it had been fixed. That website has the device listed as being for sale, but it is not listed under the support section. Accordingly, no manual nor any firmware updates are available on the manufacturer's website.I have sent an email to their support, which is a Hotmail email address, and tells you much about how seriously they take their business. As a frequent purchaser of budget equipment, and one who no less frequently ends up buying more expensive devices after learning what I lose by saving the money, I come across a lot of substandard equipment. I am typically content to consider this what the device was worth and do not make a great fuss when cheap equipment performs like cheap equipment. The line here was the playback problem. This is completely ridiculous. No vendor with an ounce of self respect should sell something that does not stop audio playback when you hit the stop button. This device is a mockery to the recording equipment industry. No vendor should sell it. No user should buy it.

Efficient and portable
After watching Louis Litts recorder in Suits I really fancied that and wanted one for myself. I do use recorder on my phone. But this one’s is much portable and efficient.
