I don't like changing things for the sake of change alone. I like improvement, and boy does this smoke detector improve things.1. You can check it's status from your phone. No longer do I wonder how long I have until the smoke detectors runs out of batteries and starts chirping at me in the middle of the night. I can see it's battery level, what is being detected, and lots of other things all from my phone. It's great.2. I no longer have to worry about being away from home. Sometimes we have a candle burning and decide to take a walk around the neighborhood. I know that sounds dangerous but it's a religious candle you aren't supposed to blow out. But now I know for sure my house isn't in a ball of flames thanks to the wifi connectivity of this device. It's a great piece of mind, even without candles lit, to know nothing is on fire at home.3. It looks great and was easy to install. You don't often change smoke detectors so they tend to be old and ugly. This one is new and swanky!4. It takes 2 AA batteries! At this point, the 9 volt feels like it's only made to power smoke detectors, and it's easy to not have any in the house. AA batteries are everywhere, and that makes things easier.I didn't think I would even care about a new smoke detector but this one really does add many features that once you have them, you'll wonder how you did without them

We should all have smoke and CO2 detectors, but they do wear out and codes change. Although I have wired smoke and plug CO2 detectors, when offered this, I took inventory of my needs. Yikes I don't have a detector on the first floor.I like the working LED and the voice announcement, and the app works great to tell you current and past readings.You can install several of these and they will communicate with each other to give you those extra seconds to get to safety. So now I want more of them as we are supposed to have one in each bedroom.Setup was easy and all is supplied. Yes, more expensive than the cheap ones, but worth it. To be on the safe side, replace the batteries once a year and the detector should last 10 years.

I have several other TreatLife products and have been pleased with them. However, this product only connects on a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. If you don’t know what that means, let me explain what my 2 hours of setup frustration has taught me.Many people actually have 2 WiFi networks—one at 2.4 GHz and one at 5 GHz. Most are designed to switch between the two on their own depending on signal. If that is your case, you have to manually change the names of the networks so that they are separated for this smoke alarm to work. That means reconnecting every WiFi device in your home to one network or the other. And, it won’t switch back and forth based on signal anymore.This is a huge hassle and not worth the time and effort I have already lost. Returning.

Great job on this product TreatLife! The setup was very easy and includes everything you need, even batteries! The app recognized the smoke detector right away and was instantly added to my smart home. Also, event notifications hit your phone instantly to keep you updated. It looks and sounds like a normal smoke detector. This unit is definitely loud enough to wake you up and announces what kind of emergency set it off. One of my favorite features is if you double tap the test button to perform a test it says the current carbon monoxide level. I will be buying a few more to fully cover my house with these. Highly recommended, the only suggestion would be to add connections for power terminals.
