Small and mighty
The dehumidifier works as advertised. There is a noticeable difference in the humidity level. We use it in our basement. Because of the smaller tank, we do have to empty the water 2x a day. It's very quiet, it does produce some heat into the environment. I love that it have an intelligence mode where it will automatically stop or start based on the humidity level you set. It will also stop once the water tank is full. You can bypass emptying the tank with the provided hose, but the machine needs to be higher than the hose so that the water is running straight down. Since we are on septic, we are choosing to not have it drain down the sink, and manually emptying the tank. TIP: don't have the machine right up against a wall, the sensor is in the back, so if it's against a wall it might not read the humidity level correctly. We keep ours in between the laundry room and main basement room.

Good after a small fix to the bucket
At first the bucket was hard to remove and replace. It was a tight fit at the upper corner (see first photo). The interference was between the edge of the bucket cover and the opening. Using wire cutters I removed part of the lip on the cover (second and third photos). Now the bucket moves in and out smoothly, and the missing piece doesn't matter much. I deducted a star from the rating for this. That aside, the dehumidifier works well. I use it in my bathroom for three reasons: It keeps the mirrors clear during showers, it helps the towels dry more quickly, and it adds a bit of warmth. It's small enough that it fits neatly in front of the vanity. The bucket size is appropriate for the dehumidifying rate; I empty it once every few days in dry conditions, no more than once a day in very humid weather (I leave it on all the time). It beeps quietly five times when it is full. The indicator light for the the full bucket is very small and easy to miss. It's not silent but it's pretty quiet for a dehumidifier. The main sound is air blowing and the fan makes a slight whine. Compressor hum is minimal. There is some boiling refrigerant noise when it starts up after being off for a while but that's to be expected. The inertial force of the compressor starting and stopping makes the unit move slightly and sometimes that makes a sound.

Misleading Pints Rating
The pints per day and square footage rating on this unit seem to be overly optimistic. I can only find one Lumisys dehumidifier that's energy star rated, a different model. That one achieves 39.51 pints per day in the government standard test, but Lumisys advertises it at 125 pints. Looking at the label for that one, 125 pints is at 95F and 90% RH, not conditions found in a normal house. At 65F and 60% RH they rate it at 45 pints, much closer to the energy star rating of 39.51.This model (OL12D-D023G, can't find it anywhere on the Amazon page), doesn't have an energy star rating, but the label lists 30 pints/day at 95F 90%RH, 25 pints at 86F 80% RH, and just 9 pints at 65F 60%RH. As we can see from the other model, the rating at 65F 60%RH is closest to the energy star test, and the most realistic rating for how most people are going to use this (in a slightly humid basement, not in a sauna). Or in other words this is essentially a 9 pints dehumidifier, and shouldn't be compared in the same category as most other energy star rated 25-35 pint dehumidifiers from reputable manufacturers. The dehumidifier uses just 160W when it's running with the compressor on, and around 22W with just the fan. Assuming the compressor runs continuously, that works out to 3.84kWh per day. Assuming you get 9 pints per day out of it, that's an efficiency of around 1.33L/kWh. Real energy star rated 35 pint dehumidifiers seem to be around 1.8L/kWh, and the best dehumidifiers are around 2L/kWh (including the other Lumisys model I used as a reference above). Efficiency seems to increase as the size increases, so 1.33L/kWh sounds reasonable for a small dehumidifier like this.Overall this would be good for a small space, but it's not going to work for anywhere near 2000 square feet, unless it's a 2000 square foot sauna (95F 90%RH). Even worse, the box says it's good for 4,000 - 8,500 square feet. There's no way.Positives are, it is very quiet. If you need a dehumidifier in your bedroom this would be perfect.I had a problem with it already. Shortly after I first plugged it in, the compressor ran for a few minutes, and then when I went back to check on it the power button was flashing red. The compressor wasn't running but the fan was. I can't find in the manual what a blinking red power button means. I haven't noticed it again, but I am worried something might be wrong with my unit. When it's operating the power button is solid red, is that normal? The bucket full indicator is a different light, so it's not that. Finally, the origin story in the manual is entertaining (see photo).

This dehumidifier is amazing.
I bought this dehumidifier for my downstairs due to a musty smell. Immediately after hooking it up it began pulling the moisture out of the rooms. The musty smell is now gone. My downstairs is fairly large, so I was concerned this might not be large enough for the job. I am well pleased how it has worked in my space. Highly recommend!!

Works really well compared to others
I bought a different dehumidifier for our living room but it didn't accumulate any water and our humidity levels were still very high. I bought this and within a few hours it brought the humidity down from 70% to 50% - it works great! I have a separate humidity sensor and it always matches the one on this product so it's quite accurate.
