The unit is sturdy, has very good optics, and has two accessories worth mentioning. The first is the LED light source with an adjustment wheel to get the amount of light on the subject you want. The accessory that is not mentioned in the write up, is a large plastic cover to keep the unit dust free.The deficiencies are the following:The instruction booklet does not have this unit included. My recommendation is to view the 2 videos listed in the Amazon description that will be of enormous help in putting the microscope together. The LED ringlight has no instructions but the extra long screws that are included are for it's attachment under the bottom lenses. No where does it mention that there is a wheel on the ringlight to adjust the amount of illumination. There is a stop shown in the photo on Amazon but called by two different names in the booklet which can be confusing.I believe that the microscope is a better value than the Amscope brand considering that there is a $30.00 coupon taken at checkout and the build quality is quite good. I am using the microscope for watchmaking but it's uses are endless.

This is a solid, sturdy little microscope made with good quality materials. Would have been five stars except that it arrived missing the ring illuminator. There's no way to contact the seller to have them send a replacement part, so I would have had to go out of my way to return/replace the entire item and have a new one sent, which I had neither the time nor the energy for. I ended up having to spend an additional $30 on a ring illuminator from another company. Disappointing.

I study insects and usually use scopes that cost in the tens of thousands. I needed several "sorting" scopes for students in the lab and purchased one of each of these models. The optics are clear and just as good as any scope used in a teaching lab. The included ring light is an added bonus. These scopes might not last 10 years of constant use, but they easily compare to the optics you get in scopes that run $5,000 + in research settings.

The scope I received was missing a critical part. I immediately contacted the seller who gave me a sarcastic and totally unprofessional run around and offered no compensation or to send the missing part. My phone number was demanded and when I objected I was ridiculed. I have NEVER had Amazon or any delivery service for Amazon contact me via telephone so I didn't think my objection was unreasonable. The scope itself is ok and mostly functional.
