Fantastic soft nugget/sonic/chicfila ice maker
Researched models and subsequently purchased this unit.I bought this item with my own money and this is not a sponsored review.Concensus?Accurately listed, promptly shipped, makes good ice fast, ideal for a small family of ice eaters. If you want ice similar to the likes of sonic or Chick-fil-A, and you don't mind keeping the unit clean, this is the product you've been looking for.addressing other reviews on this machine,• reviews claim ice maker is loud. It is a small ice maker, with an auger, compressor and cooling fan. They will be audible regardless of brand or type of ice maker. That being said, It's operating volume is slightly lower than a microwave on full power. Conversations can be had directly beside unit with no issue. I can still hear it in the kitchen from my dining room. A baby could sleep in the same room and not be bothered.• reviews claim ice maker does not keep ice frozen in holding area. This is correct. This unit does not freeze the ice in the holding compartment. However, that is by design, as if it froze the ice, it would become a clump of ice rather than nuggets. If it did freeze the ice, reviews would claim the ice freezes together. To circumvent this passive melting, the ice machine will run until the ice hits the sensor at the top at which point the machine stops making ice. Once it melts, the unit restarts. Keeps the ice fairly full.• reviews claim ice piles up and blocks sensor before full. This is accurate. It will occasionally only fit about 2/3 the storage area then pile up until it melts again. You can still get at minimum one large cup of ice in the circumstance.• reviews claim ice maker makes grinding/sharp/squealing noises. My unit none of the above. If this has happened to others, I believe they are faulty units.• reviews claim ice maker develops black mold/ growth after using ice maker extensively. This is true not because it happened to me, but rather because common sense dictates anything with constant water in it will eventually build up residue and other internal issues. Mold/growth issues and STRICTLY user error. Manual states not to leave water inside unit and to clean weekly and deep clean monthly. Do not slack on keeping the unit dry when not in use. It will destroy it.• reviews claim ice scoop is cheap. They are correct. Small, cheap plastic scoop for removing ice from the unit. It is not flimsy but could have a different shape to accommodate the small area the ice is in.• reviews claim unit only fuctions with bottled water. False. May make for better tasting ice, but water is water and if will all fuction the same. If it does not, the unit is faulty.Pros:• Ice within 6 minutes of starting machine.• Small for factor and long cord length. [Roughly 6 foot cord]• Fantastical packaging in shipping box [Styrofoam and plastic corner guards]• Quick and easy AUTO cleaning cycle [15 minute clean cycle]• Produces large quantity of ice, roughly 6 pound/hour. Enough to keep up with two ice fanatics. [Would keep up with of 2-4 people throughout a night of use during a small gathering]• Ice produced is soft and easily chewable.• Machine is delivered to door with small ice bag, instruction manual and small ice scoop.• Ice full/add water light on from of unit to remind user.• Takes 2-3 large cups of water to fill providing alot of ice capacity.• convenient silicon drain located at the front right of unit. Easily drained by pulling slightly off table [by design] and draining into container.• Scoop holder designed to sit upright in slot on unit.Cons• It's expensive. Paid 170$. Worth the cost for me at this time.• it does have an audible noise quieter than microwave.• Machine is sensitive to water hardness. If you are unfamiliar, please investigate before purchasing to ensure you are comfortable having this unit for a short period or if you are willing to keep the unit meticulously maintained. Hard water ruins items like this. Scale builds up slowly but once you notice it's to late.• Fingerprint magnetic. Plastic on unit is gloss, and is unfavorable for handprints.• It is admittedly a little heavy to move constantly so it ideally stays in one spot.Improvements• I would love to see a trail size cleaning solution to incentivize keeping unit clean.• Change ice scoop to a curved design to allow for easier removal of ice.I have had this item less than one week. I will revise my review if I ever have an issue.

Nugget Ice is Awesome ! ! !
The nugget ice is great, just like Chick-fil-A. This thing works great and does it pretty quickly. Bee warned though, it is not quite, not loud either, but it is not as quite as I had expected it to be. It performs wonderfully though, and when it stops making ice (because it is full or out of water) then no noises it makes, so it is not a constant sound. And in its defense, I suppose it must make noise to make the ice, so there is an acceptable trade-off. Overall I would definitely recommend. yes, definitely, def-def-definitely.

Good basic ice maker
Works as advertised. Noise levels are not a problem. Ice can be sluchy due to the holder basket is not cold. Basically better than ice trays.

Perfect for my picky wife!
This makes ice cubes similar to what you would get at Sonic. I definitely recommend it, simple and pragmatic, not too expensive like other brands!

Very little ice for the price...
I am a pellet/nugget ice lover. I could sit and crunch through it all day long. I have been wanting to get myself a nugget ice machine for the past few years and this one popped up at a good price. I ordered myself one and as soon as it came, I followed the directions and let it sit upright before I plugged it in and started to wait for my ice. The machine is somewhat noisy, almost like a vacuum running in the background. I figured it would die down as the machine started to compress and make the ice -- but it did not. There is a little motor inside as well that churns the water and pumps it through the system so it's like a continuous pump running as well. If you have a Keurig coffee maker -- you are probably already familiar with the noise but it just doesn't stop. I also had to wait 2 hours for it to dispense a whopping 9 ice nuggets. They were small and on the watery side. The consistency is that of a fine compacted soft snow that has been formed into a small pellet. This does not make ice like Sonic or ChickFilA. It makes a similar sort of ice but it's not the same at all.
