Yes, one person can pitch this tent
The tent seems to be made heavier material than others. Before you head to the outback, pitch this tent on your lawn or driveway. You have 2 different poles assemblies. A shorter single pole that forms the front to rear "rafter" and 2 longer poles with a center coupling bent. These form arcs that support the front and rear of the tent and run from the bottom, up and over and back down to the bottom of the opposite side.Yes, i just set this tent up by myself in my garage bay. Insert the ridge pole first ensuring that it goes through the loop pockets at the top and the awning loop pocket's at the front and back. D not put it in the pockets yet.Now insert the long arc poles in the front and rear pockets so that you have equal amounts sticking out both sides and the "bent" section near the center. If you are working alone, insert the pin on the pin and metal ring assembly into one end. Find something solid to push this pin-ring assembly against. Go to the other side and start pushing the pole into a "U" shape, raising the end of the tent and the ridge pole up. Keep pushing until you can insert the pin of the pin ring assembly into the end of the pole.Repeat at the other end of the tent. The tent is going to be very wobbly at this point so try and keep the ends as vertical as possible. Go to one end and insert the ridge pole into the pocket that's formed by a piece of webbing and a nylon clip buckle. place the end of the tent that you just put the ridge pole into against an immovable object. Go to the end where the free end of the ridge pole is and start pushing until the ridge pole bows up and you can pit the end into the pocket there. You should now have a reasonably stable tent.Install the rain fly by clipping one end to the nylon buckle at one end of the tent, fed the fly over the tent and clip the other end to the buckle there. Make sure you don't put it on inside out. The seams should be inside and the logo out. You can now move the tent around so that the SUV gate is at the vehicle attachment side. This attachment is on the side, not the end of the tent. Have not tried that yet. What I don't like is that the vehicle attaching flies are not self storing. They just hang down the side of the tent and would catch barrels of water if you used the tent as a standalone. So, yes this tent can be pitched by one person BUT do it the first time in a controlled environment, not at midnight in the rain. Also do in within the 30 day return period so you are not worried about breaking a pole as you will expect them to snap as you are tensioning them into the pins and pockets. :>)To strike the tent, ensure all openings are zipped up. Unclip the rain fly and the tent and fold. unclip the tent sides from the "U" poles. Remove one end of the ridge pole from it's pocket. Then work your way around the tent removing the "U" poles from their pins. Remember these poles are long so ensure you have room for them to stretch out. Now remove the ridge pole and fold up. Then slide the "U" poles out, folding as you remove. You may have to slide the fabric pocket along the pole to air in removal. Fold as you remove. Now the fun part! stretch the tent out flat and fold up to fit into the bag. If you can grab a bystander, do so to help. Fold in half, then fold again and again until you have about an 18" width. Now fold a length that will fit into the bag. Continue folding to that length until the tent is fully folded up, 18" wide and the length of the bag. Press down to remove all air, put the strap( if you haven't lost it) around the tent and place in bag. put poles and pins in their bags and put in storage bag. Surprise! the bag is actually large enough to hold everything. Zip up and have your favorite beverage depending on the time of day.

Good in Rain
The media could not be loaded. Puchased 8/21/23 on Amazon after much research on SUV tents. This was a new item on Amazon and it didn’t have many revues yet, and I was skeptical it would fit our 2023 Ford Expedition, and after hesitating for more than a week the tent went on sale for $30 off so I pulled the plug and ordered. The tent came pretty quick, very tight packed in storage bag and I was afraid we would never get it back in the bag again, we did.So first thing we needed to confirm is that it would fit our truck. We decided to set up in our back yard first to practice and confirm it fit, and it does but no room to spare when strapping to the back end. First time unpacking, reading instructions, setting up tent, attaching to truck took about hour. Strapping the tent is an experiment and figured you need to have the tailgate half way down, then slide the tent onto the backend of the truck, after attaching straps you lift the tailgate and it will not go all the way up with this truck, you will need to watch your head when climbing in and out.The tent seems good quality, good size for my wife, me and the dog, good windows, ventilation, and standing room. Sliding the polls through the pockets is not easy, it helps to have 2 people putting this up. We spent a couple nights sleeping in our back yard and were not bugged by mosquitoes finding their way in. The only complaint was sleeping on hard floor of the truck without good padding.First time camping trip to Madeline Island, WI on 6/18/24 would really test this tent in nasty weather. We knew the weather was warning for possible heavy storms that night, but decided to set up tent anyway, had black plastic down on dirt and outdoor carpet in tent, The site grade had the truck roof tilting down to the tent which worried me water would run off into the tent. It started to rain about 7pm and down poured all night, got up middle night to use the potty expecting inches of water in tent but only slight dampness on floor, was amazed next morning there was not a foot of water in tent, only a little damp! It rained so hard that many roads on the island were washed out. I have to say I think the truck has a channel directing water down under the truck when tailgate is open. The rain fly worked as expected, the camp site was a muddy mess, but we stayed dry for the most part, we then disconnected the tent and went to town. We stayed one more night and just folded the tent in a tarp as the bottom was still muddy, getting home we dried and cleaned the tent and packed away.Good tent for the money
